Trainee Line Mechanic - Queenstown

FULL TIME

August 4, 2024

Delta is recruiting! Calling all enthusiastic and motivated candidates who are interested in starting their career in the Electrical Distribution Industry. We have an opportunity available to take up NOW in Queenstown.

  • Training where you will be supported every step of the way
  • Great work culture and a 100% commitment to safety
  • Earn $26-$33/hr while you learn - all your personal protective clothing, equipment and tools supplied
*** THIS OPPORTUNITY IS ONLY OPEN TO NEW ZEALAND CITIZENS AND PERMANENT RESIDENTS***

Delta is your smart thinking infrastructure specialist. We construct, manage and maintain essential energy and environmental infrastructure. Every day we make a difference in the lives of New Zealanders. We make communities better for people to live, work and play in - keeping the lights on, the trees trimmed and the parks green.

We have exciting opportunities for Trainee Line Mechanics to join our highly experienced teams working across Central Otago. If you’ve considered pursuing a career within the Electrical Distribution industry, we urge you to apply for this vacancy because we’d enjoy the opportunity to invite you to come and talk to us about what your future could look like working for us. If you have a great attitude, a love of the outdoors, are comfortable with heights and are keen and able to learn the skills required to construct and maintain the energy networks we work on, then our Trainee Line Mechanic role might just be the role you’ve been looking for!

As a Line Mechanic Trainee, you will embark on a career path in an organisation and greater industry that provides personal and professional development opportunities - and where you are recognised and rewarded for thriving in your role.

Trainees will undertake a Training Programme that involves a mixture of on-the-job training and theoretical ‘block’ courses for 3-4 years. You will work your way to becoming registered with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB – look them up by copying this link into your browser: https://www.ewrb.govt.nz/). Your role will involve installing, repairing and maintaining overhead power lines - essentially keeping the power on in our communities.

You:
  • Enjoy working in the great outdoors and are physically fit and well
  • Have achieved a minimum of NCEA Level 2 or equivalent
  • Are highly motivated and keen to learn, with the proven ability to set and achieve goals
  • Communicate well – both verbally and in writing
  • Are good with detail and can domonstrate your ability to problem-solve
  • Hold a full, clean Class 1 driver’s license
  • Have ideally completed a pre-trade course or have experience in civil or building construction.

Why Delta?
  • All permanent & fixed-term employees qualify for $100k Cigna Life Insurance cover
  • Enjoy discounts tied to popular retailers and service providers through our 'Boost' programme
  • A role where you can be challenged and supported
  • Extra contribution to Kiwisaver after your first year
  • Commitment to safety, to make sure everyone gets home safely - every day
  • Recognition for excellence and demonstrating Delta’s Values
  • Wellness programmes, team activities, and social clubs
  • Professional development, training and relevant courses
  • Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes and initiatives
  • A competitive remuneration package with all gear and equipment provided
  • Joining a progressive and reputable South Island organization
lf you are hungry to learn and rank safety, teamwork and commitment to providing excellent service to the communities we live and work in highly, then we’d really love to hear from you!

Apply now!
