Job Title: Operations Manager
Location: On-site (Overseeing businesses in Lagos, Nigeria)
Reports To: Owner/CEO
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our three start-up businesses: a boutique, a logistics company, and a garment factory. The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient business processes, supervising the managers of each business, and reporting to the owner on performance and improvements. The ideal candidate must be skilled in managing multiple teams, tracking KPIs, and implementing strategies for growth and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Oversee Daily Operations:
Ensure the smooth running of operations across all businesses (boutique, logistics, and garment factory).
Manage and supervise the managers responsible for each business.
Resolve operational issues and ensure all processes are running efficiently.
2) Monitor and Report on Business Performance:
Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each business, including sales, production, and deliveries.
Prepare and submit weekly reports on business performance to the owner.
Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to increase efficiency and profitability.
3) Develop and Implement Systems:
Create and maintain systems for tracking inventory, production, deliveries, and sales across the businesses.
Streamline workflows and processes to improve overall business efficiency.
Ensure all operations comply with company policies and industry regulations.
4) Team Supervision and Development:
Provide leadership and guidance to the managers of each business.
Monitor employee performance and work with managers to resolve personnel issues.
Help train and develop staff to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
5) Customer Service and Satisfaction:
Monitor customer feedback and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction across all businesses.
Implement feedback systems to track and improve customer service.
6) Problem Solving and Decision Making:
Handle operational issues as they arise, from production delays to delivery challenges.
Make quick, effective decisions to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
Propose and implement strategies for growth and cost-saving measures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
Proven experience in operations management or similar roles.
Strong understanding of business processes, supply chain, and logistics.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Ability to track KPIs and create meaningful reports.
Familiarity with business management tools like Google Sheets, project management tools (Trello, Asana), and inventory software.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work under pressure and handle operational issues.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple teams and tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing teams.
Previous experience in retail, logistics, or manufacturing industries.
Familiarity with Nigerian market dynamics and business practices.
Compensation:
Competitive salary, negotiable based on experience.
