DN Media Group has recently merged its technical and development departments to create a shared service group that will work closely with the our Publishers and Group Management to ensure the best possible technological development across all formats and platforms in the group.

We are now on the search for leader to take responsibility of this newly formed product and technology department , who has experience in leading strategic change and improvement.

Your strategic role:

Ownership of the future development and delivery of digital products and technology solutions across the entire DN Media Group, with particular focus on content concepts in collaboration with the publishers. You will lead units in Norway and Bangladesh.


Your day-to-day:

• Establish strategic goals for the product and technology area with associated scorecards.
• Own the product portfolio from the point of view of optimizing the presentation and distribution of digital products across the portfolio.
• Be responsible for establishing and implementing framework and guidelines for use of new technology in editorial, commercial and administrative function.
• Be responsible for use of data to analyse users and markets, and give input to optimizing user experience, customer segmentation and overall customer strategies.
• Be responsible for DN Media Group’s approach to the digital advertising landscape.
  Manage DN Media Group’s IT infrastructure, hereunder ensure that DN Media Group always has a short- and long-term development plan for its IT infrastructure.
• Manage the commercial relationship with current and future IT providers, optimize costs for the portfolio.
• Prioritise profitability in Group initiatives or projects - in collaboration with group management.
• Professionalise and manage IT projects or initiatives across geographies.
• Win trust – by developing a constructive collaboration with the editorial communities – provide good communication and clear routines
• Lead constructive integration of the two teams - identify and realise synergies, build a common culture.

Your background:

• Relevant education at Master's level
• Editorial insight and understanding.
• Experience in leading product development, technology and development environments.
• IT management experience, preferably from media-related business with an international footprint.
• Documented management experience from complex, knowledge-based organizations in transition, preferably background from larger matrix organizations

Your style:

• Good business understanding with regards to cost/benefit analysis, capable of challenging the line/publications
• Ability to see the connection between product/concepts and the use of technology as a tool. In the big picture and the small details
• Demonstrable IT understanding with particular interest in new technology - quick to grasp new business models.
• Thorough understanding of technology and the complexity of a comprehensive system portfolio in how to transform to a more modern architecture (technical debt).
• Analytical, structured and solution-oriented.
• Strong ability and willingness to interact internally and externally.
• Strong in communication, influencing and motivation both to "drive” your own team and the group.
• Assist in the change journey – not only business-wise, but also empathetically.
• Confident leader with good management and implementation ability.
