Postdoc position in Radiotherapy and Artifical Intelligence

The Department of Medical Physics is responsible for the technical and physical planning of radiation therapy and for the medical-physical quality assurance of treatments. The department is also responsible for the maintenance and operation of radiation therapy equipment and IT systems related to radiation therapy. The department conducts research and educational activities in medical physics and radiation therapy.
There is continuous development in the field of medical physics. Applications such as automated planning, adaptive radiation therapy, machine learning, and advanced medical imaging are currently being introduced in order to enhance the optimization and personalization of radiation therapy. Artificial intelligence is starting to play an important role in these areas. The development of effective and automated routines for quality assurance of treatment plans and equipment is also an ongoing focus in the department. Proton therapy is currently being established and will commence as a treatment modality in 2025.

- is expected to develop and apply methods from AI and data science, often employing medical image data, in radiotherapy
- must have the ability to work independently, but also leverage collaborations within OUS as well as externally,
- is expected to take part in raising funding for continued research,
- disseminate her/his research inside and outside the department, thereby contributing to raised competence and awareness of AI in radiotherapy,
- is expected to supervise MSc and Ph D students.
- A Ph D degree preferably in data science or medical physics, within AI applications and/or developments in radiotherapy
- Background in multivariate statistics, machine learning, deep learning and explainable AI
- Background in software development including database management, visualization, and high-performance computing infrastructures
- Experience in analysis of medical data and medical images
- Publications in the relevant research fields
- Experience from supervision at the MSc level
- Experience with interdisciplinary projects in radiotherapy and artificial intelligence
- R&D work experience at research institutes, universities, or the health sector.
