Job Summary:
The General Cashier is responsible for overseeing all cash handling operations within the hotel, ensuring the accurate and secure management of cash, checks, credit card payments, and other monetary transactions. The role involves maintaining accurate records, preparing daily deposits, reconciling cash drawers, and collaborating closely with other departments to support smooth financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Cash Handling and Management:
  • Collect, count, and reconcile cash from various departments, including Front Office, Food & Beverage outlets, and other revenue-generating points.
  • Prepare daily cash and check deposits, ensuring all cash receipts are properly recorded and banked promptly.
  • Maintain and update the cash register system and ensure cash floats are properly distributed and maintained.
Reconciliation and Reporting:
  • Perform daily cash reconciliations for all cash drawers and report any discrepancies to the Finance/Accounting Manager.
  • Prepare the Daily Cash Report and submit it to the Finance Manager for review.
  • Monitor cash balances and ensure sufficient cash is available for daily hotel operations.
Banking Operations:
  • Liaise with the hotel’s designated bank for cash deposits, withdrawals, and other banking transactions.
  • Reconcile bank statements regularly and report any irregularities.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
  • Implement and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to cash handling and financial transactions to ensure compliance with hotel policies and financial regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits of cash handling procedures to prevent theft, fraud, and other discrepancies.
Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Coordinate with the Accounts Receivable and Payable departments to ensure proper recording and management of financial transactions.
  • Assist in month-end closing procedures and support the preparation of financial statements and reports.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all cash transactions, receipts, and disbursements.
  • Ensure that all financial documentation is securely stored and easily accessible for audits.
Customer Service:
  • Handle guest inquiries related to billing and payments courteously and professionally, resolving any issues or discrepancies promptly.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist with other finance and accounting-related tasks as required by the Finance Manager.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to cash management and financial controls.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in cash handling, accounting, or a similar role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, cash handling procedures, and financial controls.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Trustworthy, with high integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From Php17,000.00 per month
