Path Care Vermaak is a partnership of pathologists in private practice across South Africa that has been assisting
doctors and healthcare professionals determine and confirm diagnoses since 1922. We are registered with the
HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa) and all our laboratories are SANAS accredited.
An opportunity exists for an Experienced Medical Technician or an Experienced Medical Technologist to join the
team at the Mulbarton Laboratory in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will need to rove between Mulbarton,
Alberton and Glynnwood Laboratories. We are seeking an individual with a proven track record of displaying
competence and who has a high level of ethics and integrity while consistently aligning with the Path Care values.

• National diploma in Biomedical Technology or Medical

Technologist/Technician certificate in Clinical Pathology

• Current registration with the HPCSA in Clinical pathology

• Computer literate with Skylims knowledge is advantageous

• Knowledge/understanding of the stock management system

• 3-5 years of experience post HPCSA registration as a qualified

Medical Technician/Technologist

• Advance experience in technical procedure development and

implementation

• Being competent in Haematology Morphology is advantageous

• Differential count proficiency

• Experience with managing queries for internal/external clients

• Experience in maintaining QA Systems

• Ability to work under pressure and display resilience and tenacity in

challenging situations

• Effective verbal and electronic communication skills

• Client-focused with strong interpersonal relations

• Excellent attention to detail

• Advanced problem-solving ability

• Ability to oversee all staff (Student – Senior)

• Experience in training of staff is advantageous

• Result-orientated

• Emotional intelligence

• Must be fluent in English with an understanding of

Afrikaans.

• Must be prepared to work both day and night shifts,

weekends & public holidays

• Must have an acceptable track record/performance record

regarding the technical and behavioural competencies
required to perform in this position.
