Job Overview
Company is seeking an experienced Factory Manager to oversee the seamless production process, manage day-to-day factory operations, and ensure quality control standards in our Cape Town facility. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in manufacturing, preferably in textiles, with expertise in production planning, team management, and technical troubleshooting of industrial machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Planning: Develop and implement a production plan aligned with incoming orders to ensure timely fulfillment. Coordinate with the Managing Director (MD) to set production targets and streamline workflows.
- Operational Management: Ensure smooth operations of all manufacturing machinery, including Santoni knitting machines, Flainox dyeing machines, and heat-setting equipment. Oversee machine maintenance schedules and coordinate with mechanics for repairs as needed.
- Quality Control: Conduct random inspections of garments during and after production to ensure that all products meet company and client standards, aligning with approved samples. Address any quality discrepancies promptly.
- Team Supervision: Manage a team of operators, mechanics, designers, and sewing machinists. Provide guidance and delegate tasks to ensure optimal productivity and adherence to timelines. Conduct performance evaluations and identify areas for employee development.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and conduct regular training to uphold high safety standards.
- Inventory and Resource Management: Maintain inventory of raw materials and supplies, including yarn, dyes, and packaging materials. Monitor usage, reorder levels, and coordinate with suppliers to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve manufacturing processes for increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Implement lean manufacturing practices to minimize waste and enhance production flow.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on production, quality, and team performance for the MD. Provide actionable insights and recommend strategies for enhancing operational efficiency.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing management role, with a preference for textile industry experience.
- Leadership Abilities: Proven experience in managing and motivating teams. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to solve complex operational challenges.
