Minimum Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in optometry or equivalent qualification.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
• Passionate about patient care and committed to delivering high-quality service.
• Previous experience in optometry is advantageous, but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive eye exams and vision tests for patients of all ages.
• Diagnosing and managing refractive errors, ocular diseases, and other eye-related conditions.
• Prescribing corrective lenses, such as glasses and contact lenses, based on patient needs.
• Offering professional guidance to patients on eye health and preventive care.
• Collaborating with senior optometrists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Assisting in the selection and fitting of eyewear.
• Staying informed about the latest advancements in optometry and participating in continuing education.
