Engineer I, Engineering Applications

The Engineering Applications (EA) team is looking to add an Engineer I. Our team is based in Busan, South Korea. The Engineer I performs CAE Program Development using the C# programming language. This role will have the opportunity to contribute to several innovative projects. And these activities by nature of their complexity and difficulty require the fully competent application of knowledge in engineering analysis, information technology, and digitalization, as well as creative, innovative, and forward-looking solutions.
What You'll Do:
You will support both internal and external clients with application planning, development, testing and maintenance tasks. Particularly as part of the Digital Class framework, it contributes to improving and innovating ABS engineering applications. The main programming language is C# and understanding of the MVVM design pattern is required.


  • Under the supervision of an experienced developer or development manager, we carry out development work for the assigned plan to comply with the user's requirements and development goals.
  • Require accurate and timely reports and responses to mails, telephone calls and other forms of communication for review by an experienced engineer or engineering manager.
  • Ensures that all ABS Quality System requirements regarding technical work within assigned areas of responsibility are fulfilled.
  • Identifies opportunities and proposes solutions to improve Engineering Applications. You can suggest new approaches to problems you face and make recommendations for changes in methods, procedures, or designs.
  • Collects user feedback and client needs tracks technologies, and solutions for continuous improvement of Engineering Applications. Identifying industry trends and you can propose technology development and new features.
  • Maintains good relations with customers and coworkers and supports Engineering Application users. You can work with your team members to identify and resolve issues with technical expertise.

What You WIll Need:
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Ship Engineering, Marine Engineering or higher.
  • 2+ years of experience in relevant field is preferred.
  • English proficiency at the level of business conversation
  • Web or application development experience and interest of software development and IT technology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Programming language that you can use proficiently. (C# is preferred, Available for non-C# as well).
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and propose solutions to problems.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Social skills and collaboration capabilities, Ability to work well with others.
  • No disqualification for overseas travel
  • Knowledge of ABS health, safety, quality and environmental management systems (internal applicants only).

Reporting Relationships:
  • Reports, as assigned, to a Director, Manager, Staff Consultant, Principal Engineer, or project leader.
Working Conditions:
  • Usually sit down and work with the laptop and equipment provided by the company.
  • Transition to full-time employment.
  • Occasionally, there may be night meetings due to time difference with overseas, but corresponding work compensation is provided.
