Brief Description of Position
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement & Contracts Director to lead procurement activities for one of our offshore wind projects in Korea. Based in Seoul, you will be an integral part of our APAC and global procurement team, driving the successful delivery of complex, large-scale renewable energy projects. This is a pivotal role, requiring both technical, commercial and stakeholder management expertise to define and optimize procurement strategies and build strong supplier relationships, ensuring the highest standards of cost efficiency, quality, and safety.
You will report directly to the Project CEO of the project, with a dual reporting line to the Procurement & Contract Director APAC and have easy access to the Chief Procurement Officer based in Copenhagen. You will also be part of a global procurement competence center, collaborating with experts worldwide.
At COP, we offer the opportunity to work with some of the best experts in the industry. You will be part of a fast-growing, innovative company that is making a direct impact on the renewable energy future. If you are passionate about driving large-scale renewable energy projects and thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments, we would love to hear from you!
You will support initiatives including
- Lead the procurement and contract management activities across all project packages, developing and executing procurement and contract management strategies to optimize value, local supply chain involvement, and ensure bankability of the project.
- Own and manage the procurement schedule to maintain project timelines and ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery. Lead and guide a team of contract managers and legal advisors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders. Facilitate alignment and knowledge sharing across other packages and projects to ensure consistency and best practices.
- Lead high-stakes negotiations with key suppliers and internal teams. Liaise closely with legal and technical experts to secure favorable contract terms and manage final account closure, claims, and variations.
- Deliver consistent, timely, and high-quality reporting on procurement decisions, risks, and project status. Provide strategic recommendations at key decision-gates to ensure optimal project outcomes.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or project timelines.
To succeed in this role, you have:
- Master’s degree in law, business administration, engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Senior-level procurement and contract management experience in large-scale offshore wind, renewable energy, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience in building and managing a team of procurement / contract management professionals
- Experience in vessel contracting, electrical equipment, and/or steel structures is highly desirable.
- Proven track record in defining and implementing procurement strategies for complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of project value and risk drivers.
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing supply chain development in emerging markets.
- Ability to work at the intersection of technical, legal, and commercial aspects to achieve successful project delivery.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement principles and best practices.
- Stamina and perseverance to overcome (un)expected difficulties which will occur during your day to day work
- Fluency in English is essential, with strong communication skills and an ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
