The role:
As our Accounts Receivable Assistant, you will take ownership of the customer ledger, making sure the accounts are being kept up to date with minimum debt. Working under the guidance of the team leader, the ARA will play a crucial role in identifying and rectifying any potential bad debt.

The role:
As our Accounts Receivable Assistant, you will take ownership of the customer ledger, making sure the accounts are being kept up to date with minimum debt. Working under the guidance of the team leader, the ARA will play a crucial role in identifying and rectifying any potential bad debt.

Day-to-day tasks will include:
- Run credit checks for potential new customers updating the ERP system with outcome, along with updating current customers credit limits as and when required.
- Daily processing of cash receipts into the ERP system.
- Actively communicate with customers with the aim of minimising the days sales outstanding, in accordance with predetermined credit control and credit insurance procedures.
- Enter customer invoices onto customer intranet portals.
- Ensure sales ledger accounts are reviewed regularly to identify outstanding queries, and process adjustments for bank charges/foreign exchange differences as required.
- Work on resolving any credit failed orders, ensuring customer, mill store, and commercial representative are kept informed as required.
- Assist customers with account queries promptly.
- Prepare and distribute Aged Debt reports as required.
- Update weekly currency exchange rates on system, download relevant back up.
- Review and action any contras required between the sales and purchasing ledgers.
- Ownership of the employee credit card process from start to end; distribute statements, follow up on any not returned in time manner, escalate where necessary, processed returned claim forms. Maintain and update credit card tracker.
- Update the TSS portal on a regular basis.
- Proven experience as accounts receivable assistant or other similar position.
- Solid knowledge of bad debts and how to resolve with customers.
- Excellent knowledge of accounts receivable processes.
- Understanding of credit limits and insurance.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software (e.g. SAP).
- Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to produce customer reports and communicate complicated information to a wide range of audiences.
- Prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Motivated self-starter with a positive and proactive attitude to all challenges.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- A team player who can work with stakeholder in other functions to achieve objectives.
- Energetic with a sense of urgency.
