Legal Counsel
Location - Cheltenham (Central)
Working Pattern: In-office, with hybrid working options to be discussed during the interview. You must be able to reliably commute to Cheltenham for this role.

About You:
You are a forward thinking and confident legal professional, with strong experience in commercial law, potentially within the energy sector. With strong personal convictions, you will be excited at the prospect of supporting an organisation to make a real difference to a global problem – climate change. You relish the opportunity to manage the legal risks of a company undergoing extensive growth and change. Most importantly, you will be someone who enjoys working with complex legal issues in a commercial setting that others may not be able to handle.
What will I spend my day on at Noriker?

• Draft and negotiate contracts with business partners, suppliers and customers
• Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of matters, including contracts, compliance, intellectual property, employment law, and corporate governance
• Provide and manage a suite of standard contract templates to support project development covering land rights, capital equipment supply and warranty, EPC management and construction.
• Collaborate closely with the management team providing legal support fit for future growth .
• Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
• Provide general and commercial legal support to businesses in the group, including advice on tender proposals financing, and other ad-hoc legal issues, and support the group's M&A strategy.
• Proactively identify risk areas, collaborating with relevant stakeholders across the business to develop and deliver risk mitigation solutions
• Assist with Company secretarial matters
• Document management to meet governance and compliance requirements
• Become an expert resource for the group on complex regulation in the electricity sector
• Assist with the delivery of risk management strategies and compliance across the company

What skills will I need to succeed in the role?

• Qualified lawyer with a strong academic background
• Minimum 3 years of experience practising commercial law, preferably in the energy or construction sector
• Renewable energy experience is preferred, but a strong interest in the sector would be enough for the right person
• Knowledge of contract law, corporate law and compliance
• Knowledge of the regulatory landscape in the electricity storage and/or generation sectors, or demonstrable experience in the understanding and management of complex regulatory issues would be a significant plus.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
• A self-starter with a proactive approach to problem solving
• Ability to act with a high level of integrity, confidentiality and discretion
• Self-motivated with an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to grasp complex situations, get up to speed quickly, and present considered advice as to how to resolve challenges that arise
• Strong commercial awareness

What is our interview process?

• If there’s a match, we will invite you for a 30 min screening call to allow us to get to know each other better
• The next stage is an in-person interview with the Head of Legal and other members of senior management, we may ask you to prepare something for this one too
• We’ll try and get all of this done within 3 weeks
