Job summary
As an important part of the Ministry of Defence (Mo D), Defence Intelligence (DI) provides intelligence analysis, specialist outputs and advice that supports decision making across government. At the heart of DI is the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence (NCGI).
The Technology branch of NCGI (NCGI-T) is one of the enabling teams, providing and supporting IT infrastructure, Communication, and Information Systems (CIS) services and project support, enabling NCGI staff to work efficiently with the appropriate resources whilst assuring the delivery of new technology solutions.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Command’s transformation programme is committed to following the MOD’s framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Command’s personnel and Trade Unions.
Job description
We currently have an exciting vacancy for the Head of Dissemination Team. This role leads a centralised team who deliver a range of products to the organisation, and manages the Dissemination Process within NCGI, DI and wider afield.
Head of Dissemination supports NCGI-T in its engagement with Partners Across Government (PAG) and the United Kingdom Intelligence Community (UKIC) to maximise and standardise the dissemination of DI products across multiple systems and at different security levels.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Engage with industry partners to make the best use of available technology to improve intelligence dissemination practices.
  • Promote the use of the intelligence workflow tools to ensure all products are produced & disseminated to the appropriate standards.
  • Lead on working with mission teams and Capability Leads & Stakeholders to ensure dissemination processes, standards & policies are adhered to by the mission teams.
  • Identify how current dissemination processes can be enhanced by the use of web-based applications/software.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & training packages relevant to all such solutions and, where necessary, assist in the delivery of this training as a subject matter expert.
  • Use coding languages such as VBA, Java Script, PHP, HTML, CSS, SQL to automate and improve intelligence dissemination processes according to business needs.
  • Provide the focus for configuration and development for intelligence workflows, scripting changes and new reporting sources.
  • Responsible for providing the specialist technical skills to enable users to exploit Information Management (IM) tools and applications.
  • Undertake training & personal development.
  • Act as Lead for the management of business change and customer engagement for dissemination.
  • This role has direct line management responsibilities for 3 staff.

Person specification
The role would suit a well organised individual, with strong attention to detail, decision making and interpersonal skills. A confident communicator with new ideas and creative solutions to challenges will thrive in this role. Previous experience of HTML, CSS, PHP and Java Script would be a significant advantage. A good understanding of Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams is essential – this should sit within the essential to make it clear, and knowledge of Microsoft power platform (Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI) would be advantageous.
Essential criteria:
Prioritisation and decision-making skills.

Experience and evidence using the following coding languages:
HTML & CSS
PHP
Java Script.
Experience and evidence of utilising Microsoft Power Platform
Knowledge of Metadata Standards in a Defence environment

Knowledge & experience of Share Point (Or similar content management system) administration.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
