Purpose of the role
The Quality Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting our SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) culture and ensuring excellence throughout the product and process lifecycle. In this role, you will apply your expertise to mentor and guide teams in your designated area, with opportunities for rotation. Your focus will be on maintaining compliance with all legal standards, driving best practices, and fostering continuous improvement—all while upholding Walker Filtration's core values of innovation, interaction, and personal commitment.
Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, you will collaborate closely with Operations, Technical, and Customer Service teams to drive a proactive quality culture.

Responsibilities
Key Objectives
Quality Policies and Procedures
- Playing an Integral part in ensuring the effective development of the integrated quality management system. From goods-in to despatch. Review, develop and introducing key QA processes within the business.
Development of a Quality Culture
- Developing the quality culture by using, developing and implementing a wide range of recognised quality tools and techniques.
- Foster close working relationships with the organisation to ensure the voice of the customer is heard at every stage of the process.
- Develop and roll out effective training in relation to critical to quality aspects of product and processes
- Carry out root cause analysis of issues, implement robust actions to prevent reoccurrence with consideration to other products and processes ensuring horizontal deployment where appropriate.
- Represent the quality function in cross functional teams ensuring that objectives and milestones are delivered relating to process and NPD development.
- Lead and mentor operations teams in the successful resolution of customer complaints and line issues.
Analysis and Reporting
- Produce analysis on key quality measures with detailed improvement plans i.e.:
related OEE
- Actively participate in the develop of the WFL Integrated Management System (ISO9001, 45001 & 14001,13485) by reviewing policies and procedures and conducting internal audits as directed by the Quality Manager.
- Any other reasonable task the manager may deem suitable for the role.
Attributes
Criteria
Relevant experience
- Proven experience in a similar manufacturing biased role
- Experience of working to ISO quality standards
Education and Training
- Degree Educated in a relevant field or relevant experience with equivalent qualifications
- Fully conversant with TQM, FMEA, SPC.
- Problem solving techniques A3, 8D, 4D, 3C.
- Lean six sigma tools and techniques (DMAIC process)
Skills, abilities and specialist knowledge
- Ability to work on own initiative with a proactive strategic approach to challenges
- Ability to influence individuals and teams to achieve desired goals and objectives
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective Team player
- Ability to motivate and lead a team to achieve set goals
- Ability to take a systematic approach to daily operations
- Highly motivated and able to build close relationships internally and externally to achieve an end goal
