Rolling Stock Project Engineer

We are currently recruiting for Rolling Stock Project Engineer to join our Rolling Stock Projects team within Manchester’s iconic Metrolink.
The Rolling Stock Project Engineer, will support KAM's Projects team in conjunction with the Rolling Stock Engineering team on all current and future projects. These include but not limited to the Tram Safety Improvement Project (TSIP), Next Generation Vehicles (NGV), CCTV Renewal, LIDAR and ATS Renewal.
Working under the guidance of the Head of Rolling Stock Engineering, the role is responsible for the delivery of the above-mentioned major projects from design to fleet implementation.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Contribute to the delivery of a high performing team through ensuring objectives, standards and key performance indicators are met.
- Contribute to building an inclusive culture, taking a zero-tolerance approach to unwanted behaviours and attitudes that go against an inclusive culture, escalating matters to management when appropriate.
- Contributes to outcomes that promotes a customer centric approach to ways of working.
- Ensure own health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace, ensuring the zero harm principles and just culture are demonstrated in all ways of working.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and standards.
- Lead and support the delivery of key rolling stock projects.
- Build and maintain effective cross organisational working relationships to facilitate delivery of business plan activities.
- Identify and liaise with third parties regarding project work such as design, manufacture, fleet installs, quality assurance.
- Ensure accuracy and correctness of data which is input and recorded in the asset management system.
- Develop reports to monitor performance and progress of projects.
- Effectively engage with Tf GM stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations are delivered satisfactorily.
What you’ll bring:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline i.e. mechanical, electrical/electronic, mechanical, railway and/or experience of working in an engineering/project engineering environment.
- Professional accreditation, or willing to work towards, such as APM, Prince2.
- Experience of working on technical projects.
- Commercial awareness and capability to deliver cost optimal solutions.
- Experience working in light rail or rail environment.
- Ability to analyse technical Information from a range of sources.
- Strong communicator both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent IT skills including ability to manipulate data in standard Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to understand and interpret legislation and standards relating to light rail systems.
