Your role...
We have an exciting new opportunity for an Inside Service Sales Engineer within the Edwards Customer Centre covering the North and East of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA NE). The role is reporting into the Business Development Manager UK. Edwards, part of Atlas Copco Group, are a world leader in the design, technology, manufacture and service of vacuum pumps for a wide range of applications, tailoring solutions to our customers’ needs. This role will help to position Edwards as the core supplier of product and services through the effective management of accounts in the Scientific and Industrial sectors across the UK.
You will be an important face of the brand to our customers, and you will develop and maintain good customer relationships in the territories.
You will determine your own schedule, making contact and visiting existing and potential customers and liaising with our external sales teams. You will help identify potential new areas of business with support from our marketing tools and resources. Our top-class CRM platform will be your compass to drive all these business development activities.
Your development and execution of opportunities, sales and targets within the region, as well as your weekly reports, market analysis and timely, accurate market information will support the business strategy. You will liaise with colleagues from other divisions to maximize our customer relationships and business outcomes wherever possible and have the opportunity to be part of ad-hoc project work.
Ultimately, you will ensure we understand our customer's needs and that we provide the equipment and services to support those needs.

What we expect from you...
- Working closely with the STC’s, regional sales team, service admin team & sales operations team members to achieve the growth targets for the respective territories.
- Collaborate with the external sales, sales operations, field service, service admin and technical support teams to deliver an excellent Customer experience.
- Advise the external sales and service admin teams on new service offerings and options available as part of the VTS strategy.
- Initial first technical and after sales support for customers and the external sales teams, including conducting technical clarifications. Offering technical and commercial solutions to external sales and customers.
- Create, qualify and nurture leads, assist in preparation of service quotations, tender responses, campaigns and follow-ups to generate orders.
- Collaborate with the regional sales team to identify and create new opportunities for service agreements.
- Create service agreement proposals and support the external sales team with agreement presentations.
- Develop field service offerings with an increased focus on utilisation and external efficiency.
- Support other pre-sales activities such as new customer and supplier forms, technical & quality documentation, web and digital channel activities, trade compliance & VAT checks, payment terms or support with QAR.
- Answer customers´ phone calls and emails regarding aftersales enquiries.
- Create and support Sales and Marketing strategies including exhibitions, brochure and technical documentation and distribution and campaigns.
- Identification and development of potential new customers in agreement with sales team and re-establishment of contact with lost customers.
- Identify, nurture and manage both current and potential resellers, distributors and ASD’s in the territory with a VTS emphasis.
- Establish and pursue sales priorities by identifying major potentials, in agreement with the regional sales team.
- Maintain VTS procedures and create constant improvement plans and initiatives, in conjunction with work orders, operations, service admin and external sales.
- Support sales with analysing competitors´ activities.
- Full Cloud for Customer (C4C) activity including lead generation, qualification & nurturing, opportunity management and overall customer maintenance. Provide a proactive view on all C4C activities.
- Active involvement in the sales territory with focus on VTS business growth.
- Joint visits to customer sites as required.
To Succeed, you will need...
- Technical appreciation, ideally with Vacuum experience. Commercial focus with interest in understanding the market and competition.
- Degree Level – Engineering, Business or Science preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Excellent communication, networking & negotiation skills. Ability to build relationships and network with both internal and external stakeholders (including customers), ability to work independently and as part of the team in matrix organization. Proactive mindset and openness with “can do“ attitude to all aspects of the sales environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with SAP or any kind of CRM system is desirable.

- Strong influencing and presentation skills, to be practiced at senior levels within the customer base and territory and within Edwards.
- Ability to influence and engage others in the pursuit of business opportunities, outlining and selling the strengths of Edwards solutions.
- A demonstrable track record of Sales success and skills, with a minimum of two years’ experience.
- Ability to create problem resolution plans and drive to conclusion.
- Strong relationship development skills.
- You are commercially aware with sales expertise
- Vision that enables the incumbent to “See” the opportunity and create winning deals / solutions.
- Significant product and applications expertise in particular, in the Vacuum sector, giving the ability to guide and direct the customer base.
- Ability to influence within Edwards across multiple functions, enabling the customer profiles to be raised.
- Strong direct selling experience and negotiation skills, with 2 years experience.
- Strong commercial skills and awareness.
- Good understanding of contractual terms and conditions and negotiation capability in order to mitigate Edwards’ risk and exposure within the Company rules.
