The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking to fill one (1) full-time General Repair Worker. This position exists to perform service and logistics to support the Regional Buildings and Sustainability Program and the Regional Operations Program in the Northwest Region of the DNR.
Related work includes but is not limited to:

Maintenance and repair to buildings such:
- Plumbing
- Furniture
- Shelves
- Doors
- Windows
- HVAC
- Conduct facility condition assessments
- Coordinate property remediation and disposition
- Manage hazardous materials storage and inventory
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Carpentry experience, including but not limited to replace door handles, replace caulking/sealant around windows, shingle a shed, repair a rain gutter, etc.
- Knowledge of building components, mechanical and electrical systems, building codes, construction methods, and architectural and engineering principles.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, establish priorities, and make appropriate decisions.
- Basic knowledge of occupational hazards, safety requirements, and the types of personal protective equipment appropriate to carry out tasks.
- Experience and skills in the operation of heavy equipment snowplow, vehicles, power tools, and hand tools sufficient to carry out a variety of grounds and building management tasks.
- Ability to manage preventative maintenance schedules of equipment and buildings, track inventory of supplies, parts, and safety equipment, conduct safety inspections of buildings, maintain current logs of vehicle and fuel use, etc.
- Basic computer skills with knowledge and application of Windows based operating systems, databases and spreadsheet applications, word processing applications, and email.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions sufficient to carry out work orders and understand equipment operation specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently sufficient to solve problems associated with maintenance and repair related to buildings, parking lots, and grounds, including the ability to suggest solutions and / or alternatives to problems, make decisions, work safely along with the ability to work out resolutions in professional and courteous manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing semi-skilled work in trade areas (i.e. carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, masonry, roofing, HVAC system operation/maintenance).
- Knowledge of state and local codes sufficient to collaborate on design and implementation of development and maintenance projects on buildings and facilities.
- Knowledge of proper building maintenance procedures.
Additional Requirements
This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver's license with a clear driving record.Applicants must have the ability to meet the physical requirements and work in the environmental conditions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
