(Seasonal) Winter Lights Parking Attendants
We are currently seeking Winter Lights Parking Attendants to assist during our largest fundraiser, Winter Lights. Winter Lights is a seasonal lighting display that transforms our gardens into a dazzling nighttime display. As part of our seasonal team, you'll help bring this wonder to life, ensuring that our guests enjoy a bright, memorable evening surrounded by beauty. If you're looking to spread holiday cheer and be part of something special, we'd love to have you on board!
Including rehearsal nights, this year's event will run from November 13 through December 31 each evening. Paid training will be available prior to the show start. You will be paid between $16 and $18 an hour (rate dependent upon experience). Proceeds from Winter Lights helps create local jobs, provide nature-based education and maintain our gardens. Your role will be to assist the Public Safety department manage the traffic and parking operations. This could occur by evaluating parking to ensure optimal utilization of the area, maintaining the safety of all guests and/or managing parking and traffic control.
This is part-time work and is perfect for someone who wants to make extra money during the holiday season. Most shifts will run between 4:30 and 10:30 p.m. and pay will be $16 to $18 depending upon experience. Because the Arboretum believes in a healthy work/life integration, the goal is for employees to know their schedule for the entire show length as it opens. Work as many or as few hours as you like and enjoy the magic of the winter season surrounded by over a million lights.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
This position requires evening availability. Some weekends and holidays may be required. You WILL be required to work the EVENINGS of Dec 24 and/or Dec 25. Most shifts will run between 4:30 and 11 p.m.

Competencies
Requirements for this position include: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; Ability to stand for long periods of time (approximately 6 hour shift with mandatory breaks); Ability to work in cold and inclement weather conditions; Ability to properly operate a 2-way radio; Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled by the supervisor; Ability to work required shift hours of 4:30 to 11 p.m.; Ability to work in low light conditions with the aid of a LED traffic baton; Have a valid NC Driver’s license; and, Ability to maintain composure and positive attitude in stressful situations

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
This position will operate within the Public Safety department which is charged with maintaining a safe and secure environment in partnership with those it serves by respectfully employing the highest professional standards and providing exceptional service to those working and visiting The North Carolina Arboretum.
