Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Consultant

  • Permanent Part Time | 0.6 EFT | Monday to Friday

About the role
The Infection Prevention and Control service is responsible for collaborating with staff and patients to align with the Australian Commission for Safety and Quality in Health Care Preventing and Controlling Infections Standard. This is achieved through the Infection Prevention and Control program which includes monitoring and reporting infections, education and development of relevant guidelines and procedures. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) will employ their experience, skills and knowledge within this multidisciplinary team focused on promoting evidence-based practices in Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC).

THE PRIMARY GOALS OF THE SERVICE ARE TO:
  • Minimize the risk of healthcare associated infection for staff, patients, and visitors
  • Implement evidence-based practices that maximize patient and staff safety
  • Provide recommendations for infection prevention at Eastern Health

About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
  • Understanding of Standard 3 Preventing and Controlling Infection requirements and relationship to the IPAC CNC role
  • High level communication, both written and verbal, demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills with consumers, their families, and all health care professionals
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Computer literacy and embracing of health technologies and informatics
  • Demonstrated broad based knowledge and demonstrated senior experience in nursing, minimum 5 years acute nursing experiecne desirbale
  • Willingness to contribute to the professional development of others, in particular the novice workforce
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Post Graduate qualifications in relevatn field (highly desirable)
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills


Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role. An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment.
