We are currently seeking applications for the Executive Director, Revenue and Economics (SAES2) to join the Department of Treasury and Finance for a term of 3 years.
About the opportunity:
The Executive Director, Revenue and Economics will play a fundamental role in contributing to the Government’s economic policy and providing advice on economic strategy with the aim of maximising economic opportunities for South Australia.
Key responsibilities of the role are:
- Leading the preparation and management of forward projections of taxation revenue and GST revenue grants as part of the annual budget cycle, comprehensive and accurate revenue monitoring, preparation of budget material and provision of policy advice on state taxes, including tax reform options.
- Providing high quality, strategic advice on horizontal fiscal equalisation and the Commonwealth Grants Commission process and advice on specific Commonwealth-State funding agreements, including contributing to negotiation of those agreements where required. The role leads formal submissions to the Commonwealth Grants Commission and briefings of credit rating agencies.
- Developing, implementing and evaluating economic and financial strategies for Government as well as leading the delivery of economic forecasts for the State.
To be successful you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications (degree level) in Accounting, Economics, Finance or other appropriate disciplines.
- Proven experience in leading high performing teams.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic policy development, influencing strategic decision making, policy implementation and quantitative modelling.
- Knowledge of state taxes, economic principles and Commonwealth-State financial arrangements.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted, long term relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Awareness of the legislative compliance framework and whole of government policies governing the operations of public sector administrative units and the responsibilities of the Under Treasurer, DTF.
