Helena River Steiner School is a small, city-based co-educational and non-denominational school in Hazelmere, Western Australia.
We offer a Steiner education from Kindergarten to high school, based on the nationally accredited Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework (ASCF), which is grounded in the educational insights of Rudolf Steiner. We aim to create a school where the Core Principles for Australian Steiner Schools permeate its pedagogical, physical and social fabric through the thinking, feeling and willing actions of its employees and community members.
For this position we seek a dynamic and dedicated part time Sports and Games and teacher for classes 1—7, some of which are composite classes.
Our ideal candidate is a qualified and experienced teacher, has undergone Bothmer gymnastics training, is enthusiastic about physical movement and games, shows initiative, is flexible and adaptable to change and will be a contributing member of our organisation. Strong behaviour management skills are essential, as well as confidence working with mixed ages and abilities.
The successful candidate will be expected to plan, lead, record and assess the sports and games program and collaborate effectively with the class teachers to understand and meet the needs of each child. We expect all our teachers to have a genuine interest in, and responsibility for, the wellbeing of all our students.
An interest in Steiner education is ideal, or at least a willingness to learn more. The school supports its teachers’ Steiner pedagogical professional learning endeavours, which is discussed at interview.
The candidate is required to have a valid W.A. teaching registration and a Working with Children Check.
