Position overview
As the Statutory Planning Coordinator, you will lead the statutory planning team in its delivery of services to customers in the Shire, facilitate development approvals and pre-application meetings and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the team.
In this role you will:
- Ensure the service provided by the Statutory Planning Team is undertaken in an efficient and effective manner within set timeframes.
- Mentor and assist your team, providing guidance in their role and its responsibilities and ensuring there are structures in place so they can effectively perform their duties.
- Maintain a customer service focused culture to achieve the delivery of a quality service and to enhance the positive image of Council.
- Prepare detailed reports and project manage complex or significant planning permit applications, including the representation of Council at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

- Diversity in range of interesting projects – natural environmental, built environment, small towns, coastal development, rural land & agricultural matters.
- Relevant qualification in Town Planning and a minimum of seven years’ experience in land use planning.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with service users and all other relevant stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legislation and procedures related to the functions of the Planning and Development Unit.
- Ability and capacity to make independent and unassisted decisions.
- Ability to work with, assist and mentor other less experienced professionals.
- Ability to lead, innovate and adapt to change
