Vegetable Grower

As a specialised, year round supplier of fresh, ready-to-eat salad lines, Story Fresh operates five vegetable production farms for continuity of supply. The Cambooya and Finnie farms' main supply window is during summer, with lettuce planting starting in August and harvesting concluding around April. Some babyleaf is gown year-round at Cambooya.
General daily tasks may include undertaking, with other staff, the various field operations involving land preparation, irrigation installation and operation, plant protection practices and other general farm duties. Support and training in the Company's systems will be provided.
Ideally, candidates shall have either a Bachelor Degree or higher qualification or equivalent prior cropping experience (preferably in vegetables). A minimum of 3 years experience is required.
Further, a current Chemcert ticket, forklift and/or truck licence is an advantage. An open Australian driver's licence is essential.
A good level of physical fitness is necessary for this is a daily hands-on field role.
Whilst this role liaises with other staff who manage harvesting and planting crews, it is strongly focused on growing the crop:
- by ensuring the farm has sufficient prepared ground to accommodate the planting program;
- that all crop husbandry practices are done correctly and at the right time; and
- crop production is documented according to the well-established systems of the business.
Cambooya and Finnie are located close to Toowoomba which offers excellent educational options and a full range of medical services whilst maintaining its regional character.
Expressions of interest and applications will be accepted for at least 1 month from placement of this advertisement. Renumeration will reflect current market conditions and the Horticulture Industry Award and will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
