Junior Data Analyst ASR: turn data into insights

At Atlas Copco Rental, we're not your typical industrial rental company. We're a fast-growing business, pioneering the "sharing" economy trend for industrial sites. We provide the industry with energy-saving utilities, ensuring uninterrupted operations while keeping carbon emissions to a minimum.
We handle a large amount of data from various sources in our rental operations. Most of this data is gathered and saved in the Azure cloud. For instance, most rental equipment (pumps, compressors, generators, steam boilers) transmits live data such as geolocation, error codes, and telemetry. Additional information about applications, contracts, and pricing is recorded in ERP or CRM systems.

As a Data Analyst, you will derive valuable insights from data to help optimize operations and improve customer solutions.

Job description
Atlas Copco Specialty Rental is seeking a junior Data Analyst to join our Connectivity and Data team in the Operations department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to support operational decision-making and process improvements.

The Data Analyst will use data analysis to answer questions from the operations team to streamline workflows, revamp processes, and improve overall efficiency within our industrial rental equipment operations. Examples of questions are: Can we use GPS trackers to reduce the time between rentals? Does machine data indicate poor use of machines? Can we calculate ‘individual’ maintenance plans based on machine telemetric? Can we help customers reduce carbon emissions by calculating the most beneficial operating conditions for their rental equipment?

You will become part of a global team dedicated to machine connectivity and data analysis, where you will be working alongside an experienced data analyst who will welcome your assistance!
The team is based at the global headquarters of the Specialty Rental Division in Boom, Belgium (yes, the town of Tomorrowland). Although this office is located in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium, English is the working language.
You'll be working in a diverse environment and will occasionally need to travel.

Responsibilities:

• You begin with questions about business processes and seek answers using data from connected machines, planning systems, or other resources.
• You use historical machine data along with the expertise of experienced technicians to predict potential failures.
• You acquire the skills to design and implement descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive models, as well as machine-learning algorithms.
• You use the approach of 'Begin with small steps, demonstrate success, then expand' to achieve your dreams and ambitions.
• You use the latest data visualization tools to present information effectively. For quick tasks, you create prototypes and small developments yourself, while for larger projects, you collaborate with others to ensure a strong technical outcome.
• You help colleagues identify new ways to use data to enhance activities or streamline tasks.

Experience requirements

• You can utilize quantitative analytics and structured problem-solving, whether gained through a formal STEM education or acquired self-taught skills in a related area.
• You understand, or are eager to learn, the fundamentals of Data Analysis, Data Visualization & Data modelling.
• Power BI Experience with Python, SQL & Azure is a plus
• Excellent knowledge of English is essential.
