Deputy System Director - Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid)

In this pivotal role, the Deputy System Director will co-lead the strategic and technical development of advanced railway signaling systems. Reporting to the System Director, this position focuses on defining, implementing, and overseeing system and application architectures for both hardware and software solutions. The Deputy System Director will work closely with cross-functional teams to align design processes with business objectives, ensuring innovation and quality across all stages of product development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • System Design & Architecture: Co-lead system architecture for hardware and software, aligning with business needs and industry standards.
  • Development Roadmap: Oversee the design and development roadmap, ensuring high-quality outputs and initiating corrective actions as needed.
  • Model-Based Engineering: Manage application modeling processes, maintaining quality and addressing issues proactively.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with verification, validation, and project teams to ensure deliverables meet timeline and validation requirements.
  • Technology Validation: Evaluate and select technology stacks, ensuring alignment with design specifications.
Requirements:
  • Education: Master’s in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Ph.D. or INCOSE certification preferred).
  • Experience: 15+ years in systems design, with leadership experience. Familiarity with ERTMS and embedded systems for rolling stock is ideal.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in model-based systems engineering, Agile methodologies (e.g., TDD, CI/CD, Git).
  • Languages: Fluent in French and English; additional European language is a plus.
