As an Embedded Software Engineer based in Herstal, Belgium, you will join a multidisciplinary team within the Engineering department, working on the development of embedded software for precision-guided rocket systems used in helicopters and jet aircraft. You will be responsible for the specification, design, development, validation, and testing of software for firing systems or smart ammunitions, ensuring high-quality results in a high-tech environment. With 3 to 10 years of experience in embedded real-time applications, you’ll work in C/C++ and collaborate closely with hardware engineers. Fluency in English and French is required.
Key Responsibilities
Develop software solutions based on upper system specifications for firing systems or smart ammunitions.
Write both low- and high-level software requirements using dedicated tools, ensuring proper traceability.
Program software in C/C++ for microprocessor, bare-metal, or Linux RTOS architectures, solving real-time application constraints and managing multi-threaded environments.
Collaborate with hardware engineers to build hardware abstraction layers.
Use configuration management tools such as GIT, Bit Bucket, Jenkins, and Sonar Qube.
Ensure code quality through coverage testing and unit testing, and debug low-level software using oscilloscopes.
Collaborate with V&V and Dev Ops teams for continuous integration setup and testing.
Write software documentation and participate in both internal and external project reviews.
Qualifications
Degree in Software or Electronic Engineering.
Senior experience as an architect and developer in C and Python for embedded real-time applications (C++ is a plus).
Experience in GUI development, multiprocessor applications, and communication systems such as CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet TCP-IP.
Prior experience in aeronautical, defense, or automotive industries, with knowledge of standards like DO-178, ARP4754, or ISO26262, is highly desirable.
Fluency in English and French is required, both in written and spoken communication.
