Your mission:
As the Lead Data Platform, you will be at the forefront of bpostgroup’s new data strategy. Your responsibilities are to architect, build, maintain and continuously evolve a cutting-edge data platform that serves as the foundation for our transformation into a data-centric organization. Your leadership will be pivotal to enable our shift to a data mesh paradigm, ensuring that our data capabilities are consumer-centric, robust, scalable, and future proof to support global operations, democratization of data access, & business innovations.

Your mission:
As the Lead Data Platform, you will be at the forefront of bpostgroup’s new data strategy. Your responsibilities are to architect, build, maintain and continuously evolve a cutting-edge data platform that serves as the foundation for our transformation into a data-centric organization. Your leadership will be pivotal to enable our shift to a data mesh paradigm, ensuring that our data capabilities are consumer-centric, robust, scalable, and future proof to support global operations, democratization of data access, & business innovations.
Over the next years your key responsibilities will include:

Develop a comprehensive data platform strategy that aligns with data-centric and data mesh business objectives. Design and implement a scalable, flexible, and secure platform that supports decentralized data ownership and interoperability across various business domains

Evaluate, select, and integrate cutting-edge technologies, tools, and frameworks that align with our business needs and future vision. Stay ahead of industry trends and ensure our platform evolves to meet emerging challenges and opportunities.

Oversee the deployment and maintenance of the data platform & mesh, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. Ensure the platform enables & drives best practices for data governance, data quality, and data lifecycle management.

Drive the continuous improvement and scaling of the platform to support our evolving data landscape, from real-time analytics to advanced AI/ML capabilities. Lead initiatives to experiment with and implement innovative technologies and approaches.

Work closely with data product, data science, and business teams to ensure the platform (which will be an internal data product on itself) meets their needs as internal customers and enables them to swiftly deliver high-impact data products and solutions. Foster a culture of data ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Build and lead a high-performing team of data platform engineers and architects. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure the team’s success and professional growth.
Your profile:

A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

At least 10 years of experience in data architecture & engineering, with proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale data platforms, preferably with in depth understanding of data mesh concepts & the data-centric organisation philosophy.

Strong leadership, team management & stakeholder influencing skills, with a track record of guiding data engineering teams.

Practical knowledge of data platform technologies, including SQL and No SQL databases, data warehousing (on-premise and cloud-based), big data technologies, ETL tools, and machine learning platforms.

Strong understanding of data governance & management, security, and compliance best practices.
-
A passion for data-driven innovation and the ability to drive organizational change through data & technology enablement

Proficiency in English, and either Dutch or French.
