Job Title: Volunteer Career and Settlement Coaches
Location: Remote / Flexible
Commitment: Part-time, Flexible Hours, At least 5 to 10 hours per week.
Due date: Minimum: 6 Months Commitment

We offer a range of services including language classes, job training, career mentorship, and settlement support to ensure every newcomer has the opportunity to thrive and succeed in Canada.
Position Overview: We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Volunteer Career and Settlement Coaches to join our team. In this role, you will provide guidance and support to newcomers as they navigate their journey to integration. This is a volunteer position with the flexibility to work remotely, and it offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on individuals and families embarking on a new chapter in their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Career Coaching:
  • Provide one-on-one career coaching to help newcomers understand the Canadian job market and identify career opportunities.
  • Assist with resume writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation.
  • Offer guidance on professional networking and career development.
  • Settlement Support:
  • Assist newcomers in understanding and accessing settlement services, including housing, healthcare, and legal resources.
  • Provide support with navigating Canadian systems and processes, such as obtaining a driver’s license or setting up a bank account.
  • Offer cultural orientation and advice on adapting to life in Canada.
  • Educational Guidance:
  • Help newcomers explore educational opportunities, including language classes, certification programs, and higher education.
  • Assist with understanding and applying for educational programs and financial aid.
  • Resource Referral:
  • Connect newcomers with additional resources and services offered by RISEC Community Foundation or other community organizations.
  • Stay informed about community resources and updates relevant to newcomer needs.
Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Previous experience in career coaching, settlement support, or related fields is an asset.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by refugees and immigrants in Canada.
  • Familiarity with Canadian job market, settlement processes, and educational systems.
  • Ability to work independently and provide remote support effectively.
  • Cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working with diverse populations and/or knowledge of multiple languages.
  • Experience in career development, counseling, or social services
