Organization Overview
RISEC Community Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the successful transition of newcomers in Canada, providing them with the resources, guidance, and support they need for settlement, education, and career success. Our goal is to foster a welcoming and inclusive community for all newcomers.
Position Overview:
We are seeking passionate and experienced professionals to join our team as Volunteer Career Development Speakers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise, inspire others, and provide valuable guidance to individuals seeking to advance their careers. Whether you specialize in resume building, interview preparation, networking, or career planning, your knowledge will help shape the futures of our participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Engaging Workshops: Plan and conduct workshops on various career development topics, such as resume writing, job search strategies, interview techniques, and professional networking.
- Provide Practical Advice: Offer practical tips, tools, and resources to help participants navigate their career paths.
- Mentor Participants: Provide one-on-one or group mentoring to individuals seeking personalized guidance in their career development.
- Collaborate with Team: Work closely with the RISEC team to develop workshop materials, identify participant needs, and assess the effectiveness of programs.
- Inspire and Motivate: Encourage participants to pursue their career goals with confidence and determination.
- Expertise in Career Development: In-depth knowledge of career planning, job search strategies, resume writing, interview techniques, and networking.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Public Speaking: Experience in public speaking, facilitating workshops, or delivering presentations.
- Empathy and Patience: Ability to relate to individuals at various stages of their career journey and provide supportive, non-judgmental guidance.
- Mentorship Experience: Experience mentoring or coaching individuals in a professional or volunteer capacity.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, organize, and deliver workshops or presentations effectively.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to tailor your approach based on the unique needs of participants.
- Passion for Community Service: A strong commitment to helping others succeed in their career aspirations.
● Gain experience in a leadership role within a non-profit organization.
● Contribute to a meaningful cause and make a positive impact in the community.
● Develop skills in team coordination;
● Build a network with like-minded individuals and professionals in the sector.
● Gain valuable experience in content and magazine editing within the non-profit sector.
● Potential for future employment with RISEC Community Foundation.
● The volunteer’s name will be credited to our website and social media community. This can be an advantage when applying for future careers.
