We are looking for an Area Lead who is eager to join us in our local commercial operations team, based office in Prague, Czech Republic.
About the role
As an Area Lead (Rare Disease/Epilepsy) for Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland, you will lead the development and execution of the tailored strategies for the assigned countries and is accountable for achieving the strategic goals, such as:
- Driving growth, sustainability and profitability of the franchise.
- Leading the country teams of Key Account Managers (KAM) and Sales Managers (SM).
- Building successful cross functional collaboration with internal stakeholders in UCB (Market Access, Medical, Compliance, Safety, Regulatory and Legal).
- Further develop trustworthy partnership and long-term relations with the relevant health care stakeholders (KOLs, medical associations, hospital management officials and others).
Who you’ll work with
- Internal Stakeholders: You will be directly responsible for the KAMs (Key Account Managers) and SMs (Sales Managers) and will coordinate with other external facing roles in your area (e.g. MSLs & Payer Partners) to align on the territory needs
External Stakeholders
- Partnership with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Heads of Clinics, Therapeutic Leads, Key Prescribers, Centers of Excellence, and Health Care Professional Associations.
- Interaction with Formulary Directors, Heads of Clinics, Hospital Directors, Payers, Health Technology Assessment (HTA) representatives, Chief Pharmacists, and more.
- Collaboration with representatives from Patient Associations and Advocacy Groups.
What you’ll do
- Leads the creation and execution of the Brand Plan, having full P&L responsibility. Works closely with the RD/Epilepsy Area Head to provide the strategic market insights needed to successfully enable patient access to the UCB innovative solutions in rare epilepsies and generalized myasthenia gravis.
- Demonstrate a set of motivational, inclusive and leadership skills enabling true joint accountability of all commercial country team members in the assigned countries.
- Coach, train and develop all team members, ensuring individual competencies are at required levels. In respect of the scientific knowledge this will be done in partnership with the Medical Area Head, Medical Solution Lead and Field Medical Lead.
- Role model in driving change. He / She leads and accompanies people through change, is looking for ways to maintain the energy and performance levels of the team through change. Understands his/her role as leader and is able to create the right conditions for change.
- Develop and maintains effective external and internal relationships to secure patient value and efficient operation of the franchise in the area
- Stay up to date on business, clinical/scientific, healthcare funding and policy issues affecting the areas healthcare ecosystem.
- Develop and manage key processes to gather insights to pro-actively manage the complexity of and relevant value drivers in the ecosystem.
- Lead by example to ensure a culture of compliance in all initiatives and activities within the assigned markets.
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
- Leadership - Ability to lead multidisciplinary (cross functional) and/or matrixed teams.
- Eco-system knowledge – Deep Insight in the relevant health care system and the ability to balance short- and long-term objectives, such as drive growth, profitability to achieve the Patient Value Unit strategic and financial goals and develop long term partnerships with health care.
- Market expertise in relevant health systems and excellence understanding of local ecosystem key drivers for success.
- Education: Master’s degree in life sciences, business or healthcare required. M.B.A., JD, Pharm D, Ph D or MD preferred.
- Therapeutic area knowledge – Show a credible understanding of the therapeutic area including clinic, payer and policy interactions and demonstrate capability of external focus and accomplishing patient and health care value.
- 5+ years of healthcare related experience in commercial positions.
- Demonstrated strength in analytics, business planning, tactical plan development and execution.
- Demonstrates the ability to engender credibility and confidence within the company.
- Strong customer focus and operating skills and sense of urgency.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications.
- Fluent in English enabling valuable interactions and learning through EU Ecosystem Lead community.
