Trade Support Specialist – Capacity Building

We are searching for an experienced full-time employee to join USAID TRADE Project on Long Term Basis, details are as follows:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
USAID’s Trade Reform and Development in Egypt (TRADE) project builds on decades of U.S. investments in Egyptian businesses and economic policy with the aim of substantially increasing Egyptian exports from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The TRADE project focuses on seven selected sectors: engineering products, food processing, home textiles, ready-made garments, chemicals, printing and packaging, and building materials. Through the project, USAID works with the Government of Egypt to improve the trade and investment policy environment and reduce barriers to trade. USAID also partners with business associations and export councils to strengthen the trade services ecosystem for small- and medium-sized exporters, as well as with private companies to help them access new international markets to increase export sales. TRADE tackles many trade and investment-related issues to sustainably increase Egyptian exports and drive economic growth.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
I. Capacity Building and Training:

• Work closely with the Senior Trade Support Specialist on the planning, coordination, and delivery of training programs, workshops, and capacity-building activities for SMEs and trade-related stakeholders under the TRADE project.

• Collaborate closely with project partners, including business associations and TSIs, to assess training needs, develop training outlines, review training curricula, and organize high-quality learning events in coordination with the project’s Training and Events team.

• Ensure smooth execution of all training activities, including managing participant lists, training materials, and schedules, in coordination with the project’s Training and Events team.

• Conduct research, gather relevant data and information, and contribute to the development of training content, presentations, and supporting documents.

• Contribute to the overall smooth operations of the TRADE project.

II. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning:

• Support partner TSIs in the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of training programs, collect participant feedback, and identify areas for improvement.

• Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing training outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for future initiatives.

• Support R2 Team in conducting regular data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform project decision-making and adaptive management.

• Help Result 2 and MEL Teams in capturing and disseminating lessons learned to contribute to the overall knowledge and best practices in strengthening trade support services and institutions.

III. Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination:

• Assist the Senior Trade Support Specialist in liaising with business associations, export councils, and other relevant stakeholders to encourage collaboration and alignment of efforts.

• Support TSIs in creation and maintenance of high-quality training materials, ensuring consistency and quality.

TASKS

• Conduct comprehensive training needs assessments in collaboration with project partners
• Ensure smooth execution of all training activities in close coordination with the project’s Training and Events team.
• Capture and disseminate lessons learned to contribute to knowledge and best practices for the benefit of partner TSIs.
• Capture and document lessons learned from the capacity-building initiatives
• Collaborate with the Result 2 team and MEL teams to share knowledge and best practices with partner trade support institutions (TSIs)
• Provide technical assistance to help TSIs improve the quality and accessibility of their training and capacity-building services for SME exporters

Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

• A degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in international trade, economics, business administration, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum 3-7 years of relevant experience in designing and delivering capacity-building programs, preferably in the context of international development projects.

• Demonstrated expertise in learning methodologies and the ability to tailor training approaches to diverse audiences.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and experience in creating training materials and presentations.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address challenges.

• Familiarity with the Egyptian business and trade ecosystem, as well as the challenges faced by SMEs, is highly desirable.

• Experience in assessing the capacity and performance of trade support institutions and designing interventions to strengthen their services is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent project management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage complex tasks.

• Ability to work effectively in an international team environment and adapt to diverse cultural contexts.

• Proficiency in report writing, presentation, and communication, both written and verbal.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, business associations, and international organizations.

• Fluency in English, with proficiency in Arabic is a significant advantage.
