A Day in the Life
The Neuromodulation (NM) DACH Business Director has the pivotal role to establish, drive and execute the Operating Unit (OU) vison and strategic business plans in the DACH Region.

As the Neuromodulation (NM) DACH Business Director you will contribute to the attainment of financial and operational goals within the Operating Units in support of the company's overall financial and strategic objectives with full P&L responsibilities.
You will be responsible for providing commercial & marketing leadership and strategic direction for Medtronic’s NM portfolio across the region.
You will drive cross functional teams to achieve and exceed revenue, market share, and operating margin targets while positioning the business for sustainable long-term growth.

Business Management
  • Develop and execute commercial plans to achieve short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Directly contribute to the attainment of financial and operational goals within the OU and country/region in support of the overall financial and strategic objectives.
  • Establish budgets, short and long-range objectives and criteria for monitoring progress and measuring success.
  • Ensure sales strategies are aligned to Operating Unit strategies and that support to the field is in place.
  • Oversee new product/market introductions, sales training programs, key customers/key account visits and attendance at key industry congresses and meetings.
  • Provide strategy and direction for ongoing business development, implementation of marketing plans, development of sales and market development objectives and tools, and growth of the business for the region.
  • Maintain long-range NM sales and marketing plans for the Region.
  • Build long term productive and mutually beneficial relationships with NM key decision makers and key opinion leaders.
  • Effectively engage and coordinate with sales leadership, and marketing functions to establish a coordinated customer approach through consistent communication.
  • Continuously work to gain proficiency pertaining to the industry, the market, and the company’s evolving customer value offering.
  • Ensure close and effective cooperation with Western Europe Marketing to implement global and local initiatives.
  • Support highest standards of Quality processes.
  • Provide business intelligence insights and competitive activities such as launches and commercial strategies, through marketing organization.

Integrative People Leadership
  • Leads and builds a high performing and highly engaged team, that consists of approximately 50 FTE’s across the region, by fostering leadership and employee involvement, enhancing teamwork and accountability.
  • Provides opportunities for personal growth and advancement of reports, owning specific initiatives to achieve GIDE goals.
  • Designs and maximizes opportunities for talent development by making superior decisions as to how to deploy and develop them. Accelerates the development of others, differentiating opportunities and purposefully creating progressive experiences.
  • Builds effective teams through hiring and development of direct reports, using performance management techniques including mentoring, rewards and recognition when appropriate, and discipline when necessary.
  • Provides opportunity for success and career advancement of all its employees by ensuring they receive necessary and appropriate training for their job function.
  • Provides opportunities for personal growth and advancement of reports.
  • Coordinate with other OU Leaders to ensure alignment of sales with other business functions to facilitate achievement of overall company strategic objectives.
  • Promotes a trusting and progressive culture within the team and develops a broad set of collaborative relationships across the organization, connects well and empathically with other areas.
  • Leverages matrix relationships to influence and align others.
  • Demonstrate highest ethical and compliance standards through actions and example.

Change / Transformation Leadership
  • Leads the transformation of building trusted partnership relations with our largest customers (Strategic and IHS), increasing the focus on dedicated therapies and establishing innovative Go-to-Market strategies and multi-channel sales team.
  • Champions and owns all change initiatives by being a role model and mobilizes the teams as well as other stakeholders to commit to a strategic and cultural change aligned with the Medtronic mindset and cultural traits of NM.

Strategic Market Development
  • Encourage the development of new market development initiatives and assessment of business opportunities (PAA)
  • Ensures close and effective cooperation with Western Europe therapy and program owners to implement Western Europe initiatives.

Job Qualifications and Experience
  • BS/BA degree in marketing, economics, or biomedical engineering.
  • MBA and or additional Healthcare related (scientific or engineering) post-graduate degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in a business function (Sales, Marketing, Business / Market Development).
  • 7+ years of professional experience in Healthcare / Medical Devices / Pharma in a mature European market, ideally with heterogenous sales and marketing teams.
  • Proven track record of experience to develop and implement strategy within medical device industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully navigating and adapting to international business & regulatory environments.
  • Experienced in managing fast paced growth environment as well a mature/ commoditized business segment.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the health care systems and the impact of initiatives to drive reimbursement and or coverage.
  • Demonstrate experience leading high performing teams and effective talent development.
  • Fluency in English and German.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel 50 - 70% of time.

  • Determines solutions to issues that meet the needs of the operating unit team in achieving sales goals and objectives.
  • Discerns the strategic customer’s needs and points of satisfaction with the existing situation.
  • Proactively determines superior solutions that meet the customer’s business challenges which also benefit the company’s financial performance with the account.
  • Possesses a strong grasp of company’s business strategy and future growth plans for their area of responsibility.
  • Able to quantify financial impact of decisions and identifies key factors when making recommendations.
  • Constructs strong profit, Gross Margin, ROI, and cost/benefit analyses.
  • Able to effectively manage the country OU budget to provide business growth and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
  • Deep understanding of regional and local market dynamics, market insights, trends and competitive environment.
  • Identifies in advance major changes in regional and local marketplace pertaining to distribution, pricing, promotion, regulation, regionalization etc.
  • Intimate insight into company’s value offerings and how they meet the market and customer needs.
  • Leverages industry knowledge to create a sales advantage.
  • Recognizes and understands political landscape within the company and among Operating Units.
