Due to continuous growth and expansion, Sunlight Group offers a great opportunity for career development and is seeking to attract a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as Strategic Raw Material Buyer in the Global Procurement Organization at Sunlight’s Athens premises. The Strategic Raw Material Buyer will play a critical role in managing and optimizing the procurement of key raw materials essential to our production processes. This position requires a blend of analytical prowess, negotiation skills, and deep industry knowledge to ensure the continuous and cost-effective supply of high-quality raw materials. The Strategic Raw Material Buyer will collaborate closely with suppliers, product development teams, and other internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with the company's overall objectives.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for raw materials to ensure alignment with company goals and production requirements
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to secure the best quality, pricing, and delivery terms
  • Conduct market research and analyze industry trends to anticipate shifts in raw material availability and pricing
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering long-term partnerships
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to achieve favorable terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance
  • Continuously seek opportunities for cost savings through strategic purchasing, volume discounts, and alternative sourcing options
  • Work closely with finance and production teams to forecast material needs and manage inventory levels effectively
  • Track and report on key performance metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, and market trends
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain, such as supplier reliability, geopolitical factors, or market volatility, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Ensure that all procurement activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including environmental and ethical standards
  • Partner with production, quality control, and R&D teams to understand material requirements and ensure the timely availability of raw materials
  • Collaborate with logistics and warehousing teams to optimize the flow of materials and reduce lead times
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving supply chain efficiency and sustainability
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing/Sourcing, , Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
  • Master’s degree desirable
  • At least 4 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a focus on raw materials or commodities. Experience in the manufacturing industry is highly desirable
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in procurement software and tools, such as ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
  • Proactive and results-oriented, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including international travel, to visit suppliers, attend industry events, and support project requirements
