Position Description

The Assistant Director of Fundraising (Corporate & Foundations) should possess a strong passion for our
vision to see every child in a loving family, and a deep commitment to securing resources that support its
mission.

This role is a newly created strategic position aimed at boosting growth in foundation and grant-derived income,
contributing to the growth of Mother’s Choice’s annual budget across key income streams to ensure the
organization’s continued impact in the future. This role involves strategic planning, relationship management,
and oversight of grant application processes to ensure the NGO's financial sustainability and programmatic
success.

The Assistant Director of Fundraising (Corporate & Foundations) will report to the Director of Fundraising and
will be supported by a Senior Officer of Fundraising (Corporate & Foundations).

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy and Development

1. Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for grants and foundations.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial needs assessments across services, aligning organizational
needs with available fundraising resources to establish clear strategies and targets.
  • Identify funding priorities and align them with the NGO's mission and goals.

2. Relationship Management
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with foundation representatives, family offices, grant
officers, and potential donors.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each potential partner through nurturing of relationship,
engagement, and collaboration with team members.
  • Represent the NGO at meetings, conferences, and events to promote funding opportunities.
3. Grant Research and Identification
  • Conduct research to identify potential grant opportunities from local, national, and international
foundations.
  • Oversee preparation and submission of timely reports to funders on program outcomes and
financial expenditures. These reports detail the use of funds, agreed performance measures,
and the impact of their contributions.
  • Stay informed about funding trends and emerging opportunities.

4. Proposal Development
  • Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality grant proposals.
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary data and insights for proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.
5. Corporate Partnership Development
  • Lead discussions on ways to engage with corporate partners
  • Propose a structured approach addressing the corporate needs and philanthropic priorities
  • Develop the internal structure to launch the initiatives, report on result and enrich the
relationship.

6. Capacity Building
  • Train and mentor staff on grant writing and fundraising best practices.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
  • Oversee building and maintenance of database to capture information that will support
relationships with key stakeholders as well as all activities related analysis.
  • Explore and implement new systems through grant management software and fundraising
platforms – as seen fitted and required.

7. Impact Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Develop metrics to assess the impact of funded programs and initiatives.
  • Report on program effectiveness to various internal and external stakeholders and funders.
These reports will be critical to showcase our sense of accountability and transparency.
  • Identify opportunities to adopt grant management systems and fundraising software (e.g.,
Salesforce, Grant Hub, etc.).

8. Communications and Campaigns

  • Partner with Marketing and Communications on development of messages and content catering
the corporate and foundation audience.



Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or related field; Master’s
degree preferred.
  • Experience: At least 8 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or resource development within
the nonprofit sector, with a proven track record of securing funding from foundations and government
sources.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese, with
exceptional writing skills to create compelling narratives and articulate program goals.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with various grant application processes, grant management systems,
and fundraising software (e.g., Salesforce, Grant Hub, etc.), as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
and online research tools.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of nonprofit financial management and budgeting processes.
  • Personal Attributes:
o Deep commitment to the NGO’s mission and values, with a genuine desire to make a
difference.
o Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
simultaneously.
o Strong analytical and research abilities, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and
adaptable to changing circumstances.
o Ability to build and maintain relationships with funders, stakeholders, and internal teams.

o Self-starter who can identify opportunities and take initiative in developing new fundraising
strategies.
o Commitment to professional development and staying updated on trends in philanthropy and
nonprofit management.
