PURPOSE

In line with the overall company strategy to simply application landscape and leverage common applications across multiple markets for distribution platforms, there is a need for a manager grade role to evaluate synergies between applications such as DMS, Cube/Smart, Nano, UWMe, OWB and map out common components across FWD markets at Group Technology level. This approach of using existing applications to onboard new business belonging to different entity was well demonstrated during M&A of GBSN into FIB business in MYS. This role will leverage the learnings and apply to other markets for project and on-going support.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Based on project and BAU needs lead the delivery of application integration service for the distribution domain within Group IT.
Communicate with application owners and platform owners to understand the end to feature development and identify the reuse of integration components for common application and map out the changes.
Design, develop and implement operating policies as well as drive the adoption of synergies and values of all existing applications, including the implementation of re-usuabulity process framework and define the competencies in building integration components
Create synergy guideline and maintain skills invertory of development team for maximizing re-usuability of existing application and integration fabric across markets
Drive and influence Group and markets the operationalization of having synergies and execution to achieve optimal business outcomes
Lead a team of developers to build the necessary integration components leveraging micro-services architecture to maximize the re-usability across markets.
Leverage Agile practice to map out the feature development into a roadmap splitting user stories (enablers) into smaller components to deliver demonstrable feature sets to business stakeholders.
Guide the development team in managing the delivery of the integration components ensure the most high value items can be delivered first.
Negotiate with projects and BAU up to project lead/CTO to ensure components with high business value are delivered if there are constraints on budgets and timeline.
Leverage problem solving and out of box thinking to provide options to help move projects and BAU forward and maximize reusability.
Ensure the acceptance criteria for each of the components is well defined so in-sprint testing can be effective and enable left shift of all testing.
Share learnings across projects during monthly briefing across department so other initiatives can benefit from the value created in building reusable components.
Mentor developers, application owners, consultants from Group, CTC, TIM and other shared services to build shareable components within distribution domain.
Provide consulting services to other projects and BAU during planning stages to ensure maximum reusability.
Create development plans for resources across shared services.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

University degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
At least 7 years’ experience in IT industry with at least 2 years supervisory/managerial experience with IT programs/projects.
Hands on experience on delivering initiatives using Agile and scaled Agile models using distributed teams.
Strong insurance knowledge, problem solving and analytical skills
Critical thinking and ability to lead through influence.
Proven track record of people management across various cultures.
Understanding of insurance processes such as new business, claims, underwirting and ability to map the processes to various IT solutions and identify gaps and opportunities.
Ability to lead and mentor resources including identifying skills gaps and create development plans.

KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS

Exposure or hands on experience for various New Business systems like Distribution Management, Product Configurations, Operations workflow, Sales Ilustrators and policy administration system.
Certifications or hands on knowledge of Scale Agile execution methodology including latest test execution methodologies.
Deep appreciation of latest and emerging technologies and practice, such as Dev Ops, Cloud, Microservice Architecture and Mobile development.
Experience in using APIs, deployment of code/configurations.
Experiece on NOSQL database and synchronization is a plus (Mongo DB, Realm DB)
Exposure to Azure and AWS based container orchestration platforms and dev ops pipeline.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills at all levels of business users, IT, partners and vendors
Good command in both written & spoken English or Cantonese/Mandarin.
Broad understanding of the technology industry, including current and emerging digital solutions
Demonstrated ability to mentor junior resources and create development plans for upskilling.
