Office of Knowledge Transfer
The Office of Knowledge Transfer (OKT) serves as a bridge between the HKUST research community and industry, creating collaboration and innovation from the University research outcomes and capabilities. OKT manages inventions and Intellectual Properties (IP) of HKUST, formulates strategic commercialization plans, identifies potential collaborators with faculty members, and establishes commercialization projects with industry partners. OKT also incubates and supports HKUST’s technology-based start-ups and encourages entrepreneurship development. The Office is inviting competent and passionate professionals to join the knowledge transfer team:
Reporting to the Head (Intellectual Property Management) and working closely with research centers and faculty members, the appointee will provide vital administrative support to the Intellectual Property Management Team. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation and efficiency of team activities. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing intellectual property (IP) administration and general support to the IP team, including arranging technology review meetings; liaising with reviewers and Technology Review Committee members; preparing patent filing documents, inputting data, and maintaining the invention management system within the Intellectual Property Management System (IPMS).
- Assisting the IP Managers and the IP teams on various IP process management tasks and liaising with external parties.
- Supporting daily office operations, including filing, maintaining records, ordering of materials; coordinating special events/functions/seminars; setting up meeting facilities, welcoming external guests, and performing other assigned duties.
- Performing data analytics using spreadsheet skills to prepare statistical data and generate reports.
- Assisting with expense management and maintaining accurate financial records for the team.
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree or higher, along with at least 5 years of relevant post-qualification work experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a government or university environment.
Candidates must have an excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua considered an asset. High proficiency in computer skills and MS Office applications is required, along with numerical accuracy and attention to detail. A service-oriented mindset, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, is essential.
The ideal candidate should be mature, self-motivated, capable of multitasking, and possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. They should also be comfortable interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
(Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
