Operations Associate, HK

Roles and Responsibilities
As a Junior Trader, you will play a critical role in the team, contributing to various trading-related tasks and responsibilities in close collaboration with the Operations department. Your key duties will include:
- Gaining a deep understanding of our client’s operational workflow to effectively allocate and assist in daily trading tasks.
- Placing and managing trade orders across various asset classes and platforms, including Equities, Funds, Bonds, and Foreign Exchange (FX) under the supervision of the Senior Trading Associate.
- Routing and authorizing trade orders for execution.
- Authorizing trade settlement instructions processed by the Operations team daily.
- Communicating with Brokers and Custodian Banks to ensure smooth receipt of necessary data for daily/weekly workflows.
- Engaging with clients on matters such as Order Instructions and Cash Transfer Instructions.
- Assisting in establishing new brokerage relationships when necessary.
- Collaborating with internal teams in Hong Kong and globally to address ad-hoc requests and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Actively participating in the improvement and optimization of the trading execution, booking, and settlement processes.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience within the front or middle office of a financial institution.
- Demonstrates a proactive, persistent approach with a positive, problem-solving mindset.
- A quick learner with a keen curiosity to understand processes, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point); advanced Excel skills, such as VBA, are a plus.
- Fluent in English (additional language proficiency is a plus).
- An international background, having worked or studied abroad, is preferred.
- All academic majors are welcome to apply (Finance as well as Non-Finance backgrounds).
