Term / Temporary Test Engineer

This is a unique opportunity for working in the Jockey Club Emission Centre which is dedicated to carry out testing and research projects /teaching activities to improve the air quality and reduce carbon emission for Hong Kong. Applicant should be aware that this is an excellent opportunity to acquire special knowledge in this unique field. Experience gained in this post will be extremely useful to the appointee in our environmentally aware society.


Major Duties:

(a)
To perform teaching duties in the subject area of Electrical / Mechanical / Automotive Engineering and assist in supervision of students’ projects and fieldwork placement;

(b)
To provide guidance and services to students in laboratory;

(c)
To oversee operation of projects as assigned by supervisor(s) in the areas of Electrical / Mechanical / Automotive Engineering;

(d)
To oversee procurement, maintenance and commissioning of equipment;

(e)
To participate in networking with industry / industrial attachments, departmental projects and functions, including but not limited to consultancy services, research studies, seminars and exhibitions.

(f)
To assist Centre Manager / Senior Engineer in the development of new project services and training to meet the needs of the industry;

(g)
To assist Centre Manager / Senior Engineer to explore new project areas for the Centre, such as developing consultancy, training programs, or research projects; and

(h)
To assist Centre Manager / Senior Engineer to coordinate research projects and provide support on research administration.


Requirements:

(a)
A recognised degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Automotive Engineering or equivalent professional qualification, preferably with a post-graduate qualification;

(b)
Applicants would have an advantage if they have knowledge and/or possess solid experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Vehicle emissions testing with Euro VI/6 European emissions standard;

  • Operation of Portable Emission Measurement System (PEMS);

  • Electric Vehicles;

  • Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles; and

    (c)
    Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese.

    The post is at the rank of Teaching Associate.

    (2)
    Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.

    (3)
    Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment

    (4)
    The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and/or outside campus.
