Senior Teacher on Project Based, Technology Enhanced Language Programmes

Requirements
- Hold a degree, a certificate in English language teaching with assessed teaching practice along with higher level qualification and language education and knowledge of at least one other language
- More than 5 years experience in English language teaching and / or further qualifications in Education in addition to initial teacher training
- At least one full year's experience working with Project Based, Technology Enhanced approach and different levels, and completing at least one six month cycle with a group of students
- Be knowledgeable on the effective use of project-based, technology enhanced learning in the classroom to a level making it possible to mentor and support others.
- Experience with materials development for other teachers to use.
- Experience running courses and training sessions for teachers and Trinity ISE exam preparation
- Experience supporting the welfare of students in class and beyond.
To be a model and mentor for the teaching team enable them to more effectively;
- Act as a facilitators of student interaction through English and guarantor of the positive learning atmosphere in classes.
- Use the FL Project Based and Technology Enhanced approach to delivering communicative, student-driven classes and to make a connection with their life outside class.
- Become sufficiently familiar with the digital tools the students are using to be able to instruct them and to troubleshoot any difficulties they have.
- Pro-actively assist individual students in identifying and working to overcome barriers to effective communication and collaboration, from initial placement and needs assessment to the preparation and feedback stages of each communication activity to the completion of presentation feedback and reports.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers in planning and delivering effective classes based on the Project Based & Technology Enhanced programme for the levels assigned.
- Provide a level of culturally sensitive support for students' learning and to refer any welfare issues that come to their attention in class to the relevant person.
- Assess students' language learning needs both formally and informally, give them constructive feedback which will guide them towards a successful outcome and report on their progress at regular intervals as appropriate to the course.
- Ensure that the educational space assigned to is set-up in an appropriate way for the class and that all of the equipment they need is in place and functioning normally and after their session to return everything to the appropriate place as indicated by the academic / centre management.
- Ensure appropriate use of equipment, software and internet resources provided by the school, during the sessions.
- Facilitate group leaders, inspectors and other visitors in observing classes and understanding what it is that we do.
- Collecting and analysing regular formal and informal students feedback and devising an action plan in order to contribute to the success of the programme.
- Actively contribute to the development of the course and their own development as a teacher.
- Organising occasional cultural visits / social activities during class time and designing consistent pre and post excursion activities
- Maintain regular, consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.
- Help the Director of Studies ensure the orderly running of the classes in adhering to timetable and guidelines.
- Support fellow teachers in delivering the courses to a high standard by being available to share experience before and after classes and in occasional collaborative workshops.
- Devise, update and deliver workshops to meet student / teacher needs and helping to arrange for invited speakers.
- Provide occasional cover or support for specific academic management tasks, where needed, such as:
- Checking weekly attendance folders
- Sending exam notifications and reminders to students as required.
- Gathering exam topic topic tasks so they can be shared with the examiner.
- Supporting planning and helping with teacher queries about course materials.
- Organising materials into class folders and creating additional teaching resources as needed (e.g. kahoot, slides).
- Checking participation certificates and signing off on other academic documents describing what students have achieved on the course.
- Helping with academic questions from students and keeping course information up to date.
- Contribute to inductions explaining what students expect from the academic side.
- Welcoming and briefing / giving inductions to new students and following up with them at the end of their first week.
Pay: €34,892.00 per year
