Young Learner Academic Coordinator

- Reports To: Future Learning Academic Director
- Location: Future Learning Dublin Center, Abbey House, Jervis street (in-person role)
- Contract Type: Permanent, in-person (with 6 months probation)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, between 8:30 and 17:00 (incl. 30 mins unpaid break) which may vary according to the needs of the business
- Professional Development: In-house training will be provided on the approach and tools to be used. Two days can also be taken per year, or days off in lieu if it is a weekend to attend appropriate professional development, subject to agreement with management. FL will cover any tickets and book travel and accommodation if outside Dublin.
- Salary: €31,200 - €32,760 per year (depending on experience and qualification)
- At least 2 years experience working as a teacher of young learners
- Be familiar with the effective use of project-based, technology enhanced learning in the classroom to a level making it possible to mentor and support others.
- Proven organisational and administration skills relevant to the coordination of academic programmes
- Ability to prioritise tasks and deal with unexpected issues under pressure
● To ensure the orderly running of the classes in adhering to timetable and conduct / attendance guidelines and provide occasional cover for teachers as needed.
● To support the academic staff in the successful running of the YL programmes: planning new staff induction and ongoing staff regular training-development sessions, supporting and mentoring staff on a daily basis (daily briefings), organising class observations, providing technical support.
● To coordinate the work of the academic staff in the assigned location and support their planning and teaching.
● To collect regular student feedback, decide what action is needed in terms of the programme delivery and provide monthly reports to the Academic Director.
● To liaise with the Accommodation Officer on host-family-related issues brought to your attention by students and group leaders.
● To liaise with visiting group leaders;
○ Briefing them on activities and giving directions to the key locations.
○ Feeding back any requests they have to the activities coordinator or other relevant person.
○ Communicating any unanticipated changes due to weather etc. and suggesting possible alternatives
○ Collecting feedback on how activities went and proposing actions.
○ Organising Project-related activities
○ Invite them to the final presentation,
○ Provide links to photos and products in the assigned location.
- To arrange for end of course certificates for courses at the assigned location to be prepared, printed, uploaded, and handed out.
- To decide on and organise set-up / reset of the classrooms in the assigned location
- To facilitate agents, inspectors and other visitors in observing classes and understanding what it is that we do.
- To ensure we are providing a level of culturally sensitive support for the students' learning and to refer any welfare issues that come to their attention in class to the relevant person.
- To maintain regular, consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant Health & Safety procedures.
- To liaise with the Activities Coordinator on schedules and project-related activities, ensuring that staff can access slides, equipment and know where to find and put away materials.
- To liaise with the programme manager to assist in planning and preparing a bi-annual development training with the YL team
- To manage, organise, and order the equipment and materials used in the lessons and project-related activities (lanyards / laptops / white boards / markers) in the assigned location in coordination with Campus Facilities Management.
- Put a plan in place for each group's first day of lessons and liaising with reception staff on student holding areas and how/where groups will be split, including local students when applicable, and GL briefing location, time and staff assigned to each briefing. Also ensure that the break and lunch time are supervised by a member of staff.
Pay: €31,200.00-€32,760.00 per year

- English teaching: 2 years (required)
- CELTA / TESOL certification (required)
- Ireland (required)
