About you and this role

We have a great opportunity for an Associate Accounting Specialist to join our team in Terneuzen, The Netherlands.

As Associate Accounting Specialist, you are responsible for activities in connection with the distribution of purchased materials. The scope encompasses the control and the validation of purchases, of sales, as well as the control of inventories and of freight expenses.

The Associate Accounting Specialist assists with the recording, the tracking, and the reporting of the operations in scope. He supports the cost recoveries as required. He works in a team whose mandate is to ensure compliance to the distribution agreement.

Responsibilities

Perform data analysis and data validation (completeness, accuracy). Promptly escalate defects or matters.
Reconcile accounting balances with source system and/or with the concerned supplier.
Perform specific tasks to secure timely transmission of information to the concerned business partners.
Assist with the monthly and annual closing (accruals, valuations, reclassifications…).
Work in compliance with procedures and in coordination with other team members.
Assist with the addressing of audits.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or in Business Administration
Fluent in Dutch, in English (both written and spoken)
Strong analytical skills.
Accurate, attention to details.
Capacity to prioritize tasks to meet strict deadlines.
Discipline in applying accounting policies and procedures.
Team spirit.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and word).

Preferred Skills

Prior experience with SAP systems preferred.
Preferred 2 or 3 years of prior work experience in an accounting department.
Experience in Controllers work processes, systems & tools, preferred.
