About the Role:
Our client, a leading global engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Discipline Manager for the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Design department. The role involves overseeing the organization, personnel, and discipline-specific activities within the E&I design team, serving as the main point of contact for all E&I designers. The ideal candidate will lead and support E&I design teams across engineering, construction, and commissioning phases of major projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables, team development, and effective resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Support: Act as the primary point of contact for E&I designers, providing guidance, coaching, and direction throughout engineering, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Quality Assurance and Standardization: Oversee the quality assurance of E&I design documents and drive standardization across processes and designs.
- Talent Development: Guide career planning, training, and education for E&I designers, ensuring their growth aligns with organizational goals.
- Resource and Personnel Management: Manage resource planning, personnel evaluations, and recruitment of new team members to ensure optimal team performance.
- Project and Contract Support: Provide contract management support for electrical and instrumentation subcontractors during the construction phase.
- Budget and Schedule Management: Oversee budget allocation and scheduling for E&I design activities, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all E&I design work complies with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements, especially in offshore environments.
- Educational Background: A degree at MBO or HBO level in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in E&I design within engineering firms, preferably within the offshore or energy sectors.
- On-Site Project Support: Proven experience in supporting E&I construction and commissioning activities on-site.
- Team Management: Demonstrated experience managing E&I design teams, including overseeing 3D modeling processes.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with industry-standard E&I design software and tools, such as Auto CAD, Smart Plant, or similar.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of relevant offshore regulations, safety standards (e.g., ATEX), and best practices within the E&I discipline.
- Communication and Leadership: Strong communication skills, decisiveness, and the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Personal Attributes: Proactive, ambitious, stress-resistant, and reliable, with a strong sense of integrity and responsibility.
- Language Skills: Proficient in English (Dutch language skills are an advantage).
