Job Scope

The Head of Performance Management is a Director level position, reporting to the Head (VP) of Revenue Development. This is a newly created position that will play an important role within the Sky Team Alliance Office, whose scope and sphere of influence extend beyond the boundaries of the function. The position contemplates supervision over two business functions, as follows:

• Accounting and Controlling
• Data Analytics

About You

As the Head of Performance Management, you will be instrumental in advancing Sky Team's strategic objectives by ensuring the effective use of resources, overseeing budget management, and utilizing data-driven insights to guide decision-making. You will focus on aligning resources with key business priorities, developing dashboards to provide real-time performance visibility, and refining project monitoring processes for more efficient execution enabling the Excom (Executive Committee) to efficiently drive our business plan.

In addition to financial oversight, A core aspect of your responsibilities will involve managing and analyzing data from various sources (internal & external), including member airlines and internal projects. In collaboration with the Data Manager, you will drive data integration, enhance our data capabilities, and provide Data as a Service solutions to support our airline members in improving their own performances.

To succeed, you'll need strong analytical skills, a proactive leadership style, and the ability to balance detailed work with a broader strategic focus, ensuring that Sky Team meets its targets efficiently and effectively.

Key Result Areas / Key Responsibilities

Budget and Control

• With the support of the Accounting manager, the you will lead the discussion/preparation of the budget, as well as the steering and optimization of resources consumed. You will monitor the progress of key projects in correlation with expenses/resources consumed and will recommend strategic actions to redeploy resources to other projects/initiatives to avoid irrelevant use of our budget.
• Define and orchestrate a solid budget/priorities steering process, with monthly cadence that aimed at optimizing our resources to reaching as much targets as possible: address the status of resources consumed and project completion, highlight recommended shift of resource allocation and flexibility to tackle new business opportunities.
• Develop predictive models and analytics to optimize operational performance and budget steering, in close collaboration with different teams that could be involved.
• Establish a one-page dashboard that reflects the key information for Sky Team’s CEO awareness

Data & Analytics

• Oversee with the support of the Data manager, the integration and analysis of different data from various sources (member airlines, internal projects, products and services, OAG, PPSs, GDSs, etc.) to drive improvements and support strategic decisions.
• Collaborate with IT to enhance data capabilities and infrastructure.
• Managing relationships with key vendors/providers; Providing ‘Data as a Service’ solutions to airline members wanting to enhance their internal data with Sky Team’s data.
• Structure the 2 above areas into a strong entity to support control and optimization of our resources.

Responsibilities and tasks of the position are not limited to the above mentioned, and deviations can occur at any point in time as the position evolves and in concert with the manager.

Must have:
Authorization/availability to reside and work legally in The Netherlands on a full-time basis.(note: this position does not offer relocation assistance).

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, sciences, engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least 15 years of experience in the aviation industry with a minimum of five years in a senior leadership role.
• Extensive experience, knowledge, and understanding of airline operations, data, and corporate planning.
• Proven track record of managing large budgets and leading cross-functional teams in a multinational environment.
• Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in optimization thinking/modeling and data analysis tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively negotiating and building relationships
• Excellent command of English language (Verbal & Written) is mandatory. However, native languages from Sky Team members will be considered an asset
