Mechanical Engineer

Opportunity/Job Purpose:
Maxwell+Spark is seeking a talented and experienced Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in mechanical engineering with strong CAD skills, specifically in designing industrial mobile lithium-ion battery systems, and a preference for experience with mechanical/electrical designs. The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical/electrical systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the overall success of engineering projects.
The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate creativity, commercial grasp, design rigour and self-starting attributes. maxwell+spark fosters a diverse, fast paced, progressive work environment with a multidisciplinary approach to engineering without micro-management. What will you do?
Role and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems, with a focus on sheet metal design.
Produce detailed CAD models, drawings, and specifications using Onshape CAD Software or similar.
Collaborate with electrical engineers and other technical teams to create integrated mechanical/electrical designs.
Conduct engineering calculations and simulations to validate design solutions.
Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
Identify and resolve technical issues in the design and development phases.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting during product testing and assembly.
Prepare and present design documentation, including reports and specifications, for internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.

Requirements:

HBO in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in CAD design, preferably in sheet metal design.
Experience designing industrial mobile lithium-ion battery systems is preferred.
Familiarity with industry standards, materials, and manufacturing processes for mechanical components.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in CAD software (e.g., Onshape or similar).
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including material properties.
Experience with mechanical/electrical integration and system-level design is a plus.
Ability to perform engineering calculations (e.g., stress analysis) to support design decisions.

Salary and Benefits:

Full-time employment (40 hours per week) based on a 12-month contract, with a possibility of extension.
A competitive salary, depending on experience, skills and qualifications.
8% holiday allowance, calculated on gross salary and paid monthly.
Participation in the PMT Pension Fund.
22 days of paid leave. The number of paid leave days increases after 2, 4 and 7 years of service.
Tax free travel allowance.
