As a leader in cycling technology, we are known for our commitment to excellence and technological advancement. We are looking for an experienced and driven R&D Senior Engineer to join our team and help us bring the next generation of products to life.
Job Description
As an R&D Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and enhancement of our product line. You will be responsible for leading complex R&D projects, from concept to production. You will collaborate closely with various teams and stakeholders to further develop and innovate our products while ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance. Your responsibilities include:
- Lead R&D projects, including planning, coordinating cross-functional teams, and monitoring project timelines and budgets.
- Develop and test prototypes and new designs, guiding them through to production.
- Ensure technical reporting and effective communication with various departments, including manufacturing and marketing.
- Develop innovative solutions for complex technical challenges, focusing on product improvements and new technologies.
- Perform data analysis and simulations to support decision-making and optimize product performance.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in materials (such as metals, polymers, composites) and apply this knowledge to new designs.
- Ensure that all phases of development comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and certifications.
About Optima Cycles
Optima Cycles develops and produces Dutch ID e-bikes and Lovens electric cargo bikes. In the Netherlands we have our sales, marketing, planning and assembly departments, in Taiwan we have our production and a wide network of suppliers. Our beautiful factory is located in the heart of Taiwan’s bicycle industry, Dajia District, where a proud local team works. Our Dutch owner lives and works in Taiwan. Both our team and our production capabilities are continuously growing. We foresee much more growth and expansion in the coming years. This puts our company in a very interesting phase.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- 5–10 years of experience in R&D or product development, preferably within the cycling industry or a related field.
- Proven experience in leading R&D projects, including managing teams and budgets.
- Experience with the full product lifecycle, from concept to production.
- Deep knowledge of product design tools and simulation software such as Solid Works, Auto CAD, or ANSYS.
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as 3D printing, CNC machining, or mold development.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or in specific technical fields is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with a pragmatic and innovative approach to solving complex problems.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with experience working with international teams.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
