Retail Director

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Retail Director to lead and manage our
territory retail operations, ensuring that our stores across multiple regions perform at their
highest level and align with our strategic objectives. This critical leadership role is essential in
driving sales growth, enhancing customer experiences, and optimizing store operations in the
region.


The Retail Director will be a key figure within our organization, coordinating efforts among
internal departments, regional directors, external partners, and clients. In addition to
overseeing daily retail operations, this role requires a strong emphasis on strategic planning,
financial management, and global market analysis.


The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in European retail management in addition
to deep local knowledge in the relevant markets, coupled with exceptional analytical and
leadership abilities. They will have a deep understanding of international retail trends and
consumer behavior, positioning them to effectively guide our retail strategy and ensure the
ongoing success and profitability of our retail network.


This role is not only about managing day-to-day operations but also about shaping the future
of our retail presence on a global scale, working closely with senior management, district
managers, and store managers to achieve our business objectives.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Strategic Leadership and Planning
 Develop and execute the retail strategy in alignment with the company's overall
business goals.
 Lead the planning and implementation of new store openings, expansions, and
renovations.
 Oversee market analysis and demographic studies to identify growth opportunities and
optimize store locations.
 Establish sales targets, KPIs, and performance metrics for the retail network and
ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
 Collaborate with senior management to define the annual retail budget and financial
plans.
 Ensure that workforce costs, including wages, overtime, and benefits, align with the
overall budget and financial objectives.


2. Sales and Profitability
 Drive sales growth and profitability across all retail locations by implementing effective
sales strategies and initiatives.
 Monitor sales performance against targets and implement corrective actions as
needed to achieve revenue goals.
 Optimize product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional activities in
collaboration with the merchandising team.
 Analyze sales data, customer trends, and market conditions to make informed
decisions that enhance store performance.


3. Operational Excellence
 Ensure efficient and consistent store operations, including inventory management,
visual merchandising, and store layout.
 Develop and implement operational standards, policies, and procedures to enhance
customer service and store efficiency.
 Lead efforts to improve operational processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall
store productivity.
 Oversee store audits and compliance with company policies, health and safety
regulations, and industry standards.


4. Team Leadership and Development
 Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of district managers, VMs and store
managers.
 Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the
retail organization.
 Provide regular performance feedback, conduct performance reviews, and develop
career growth plans for key team members.
 Drive employee engagement initiatives and ensure alignment with the company’s
values and culture.
 Manage external recruitment efforts to ensure the best talent is brought in to meet
organizational needs and support business growth.
 Plan and structure teams for future growth, ensuring that staffing aligns with the
company's long-term strategic objectives.
 Identify leadership potential within the organization and create development paths for
future leaders, ensuring a robust succession plan is in place.
 Collaborate with HR to create and implement training programs tailored to upskill
employees and prepare them for future roles within the organization.


5. Customer Experience and Brand Representation
 Champion a customer-centric culture by ensuring consistent delivery of exceptional
customer experiences.
 Oversee the implementation of customer service standards, training programs, and
service recovery protocols.
 Ensure that all retail locations reflect the brand’s image and values through consistent
visual merchandising and store presentation.
 Gather and analyze customer feedback to drive improvements in products, services,
and store environments.


6. Collaboration and Cross-Functional Partnership
 Work closely with the merchandising, marketing, finance, and HR teams to align retail
operations with company-wide initiatives.
 Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute promotional campaigns
that drive store traffic and sales.
 Partner with the HR team to recruit, train, and retain top retail talent.
 Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide input on company strategy,
product development, and customer engagement.


7. Financial Management and Reporting
 Oversee the preparation and management of the retail budget, including P&L
responsibility for all retail locations.
 Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and
implementing cost-saving measures.
 Provide regular financial reports and forecasts to senior management, highlighting key
performance indicators and trends.
 Ensure accurate financial controls are in place and adhered to across the retail
network.


8. Risk Management and Compliance
 Identify and mitigate risks associated with retail operations, including loss prevention,
security, and legal compliance.
 Ensure that all retail activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company
policies.
 Lead crisis management efforts in response to any operational, safety, or security
incidents.
 Oversee health and safety compliance across all retail locations.


Qualifications:


 Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a
related field. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
 Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in retail management, with at least 5
years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple retail locations.
 Proven track record of driving sales growth and operational excellence in a retail
environment.

optimize store performance, and implement solutions that enhance profitability and
operational efficiency.


Proficiency in Retail Management Tools: Deep knowledge of retail management software
and tools, ensuring the effective management of operations, inventory, and customer
experiences across all regions.


In-Depth Understanding of Market Trends and Customer Behavior: Comprehensive
knowledge of global retail trends, market conditions, and consumer behavior, enabling the
development of strategies that resonate with diverse customer bases and drive sales growth.


Building and Training Future Leaders: Dedicated to identifying and nurturing talent within
the organization, with a focus on succession planning and developing the next generation of
retail leaders who will continue to drive the company’s success.
