Organisation profile ELIA is a globally connected European network of art universities with over 290 members in 53 countries, representing over 300,000 students across various art disciplines. ELIA provides a dynamic platform for professional exchange, advocacy, and collaboration in higher arts education. ELIA is administering the UAx Platform Ukraine, which supports war-affected art students and Ukrainian art universities in the time of crisis. About UAx Platform UAx is a community platform that brings together 15 art universities from Ukraine and 18 partner universities across the EU, UK, and USA, fostering solidarity and collaboration among ELIA members. Our mission is to support the resilience and recovery of Ukraine's cultural sector by empowering higher arts education in the country in times of crisis. Launched in November 2022, with the generous support of the Abakanowicz Arts and Culture Charitable Foundation (AACCF), UAx is dedicated to supporting Ukrainian art students and institutions through a student scholarship and mentorship programme, a sister schools partnership programme, and ELIA’s global events. UAx provides essential resources and opportunities, helping to sustain Ukraine's cultural and educational landscape amid ongoing crisis. Internship Role The UAx Research Intern will assist with the preparation of an evaluation of the UAx Platform after two years of its implementation. This evaluation will serve as a learning tool to support international efforts in higher arts education during crises. The intern will help research and develop this report.This internship is ideal for a detail-oriented and motivated individual interested in research, programme evaluation, and international collaboration in the higher (arts) education sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop research and writing skills in a professional and international setting. The role is ideal for a bilingual (Ukrainian/English) individual with strong writing skills in both languages. The intern will work closely with the UAx Platform Manager and ELIA’s broader team to contribute to the research, data collection, and reporting activities necessary for the projects’ two-year evaluation. The intern will be contributing to writing a report, titled “Learning from UAx after Two Years of Implementation: Practical Considerations on Supporting Higher Arts Education in Crisis”. Key Responsibilities Research Support:
- Assist in reviewing programme evaluations and relevant information and materials produced by UAx so far.
- Compile data and insights on UAx activities, focusing on student bursaries, mentoring programme, sister schools’ partnerships and institutional resilience.
- Help gather additional qualitative data through interviews, surveys, and feedback sessions with UAx Platform participants, including students, mentors, and institutional representatives.
- Support the design of an evaluation framework, including key indicators of success, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Assist in analysing collected data, organising findings, and preparing a comprehensive evaluation report.
- Develop sections of the report in English (later the report will be translated into Ukrainian).
- Work closely with the UAx Platform Manager and ELIA team to receive guidance and gather insights from programme participants and stakeholders.
- Assist in organising meetings related to the evaluation and documenting discussions for reporting purposes.
- By the end of the internship, support the completion of the report titled: “Learning from UAx after Two Years of Implementation: Practical Considerations on Supporting Higher Arts Education in Crisis.”The report will offer practical insights and lessons that can benefit international higher education communities in crisis.
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed (up to 2-year graduates) a master’s degree in social sciences, education, arts management, international development, or other related fields.
- Bilingual proficiency in Ukrainian and English, with excellent writing skills in both languages.
- Experience in research and analysis, particularly qualitative data collection.
- Strong interest in international higher education and programme evaluation.
- Previous experience in arts education or cultural projects is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Familiarity with survey softwares (e.g., Survey Monkey, Google Forms) and basic data analysis tools.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
- Interest in contributing to the development of tools for educational resilience in crisis situations.
