Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
As the Principal Advisor, you will champion the quality assurance function of the Office of the Deputy Director General for the Public Health Agency, ensuring all key internal products meet quality, validity, accuracy, and consistency standards. You will also support the commissioning of Ministerial products across the PHA and support compiling the talking points for Ministers meetings. Your commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations and improving equity of health outcomes will shape your work.

Collaborating closely with the Manager of ODDG, you will offer guidance, support, and mentoring to team members, empowering them to excel in their day-to-day work. Building collaborative relationships will be a key aspect of your role, as you engage with stakeholders within the Directorate, Ministry, wider health sector, government, and external partners.

To succeed in this role, you should have significant experience in providing advice to Ministers to ensure delivery of work is to the expected quality. Your ability to look for what is missing and identify gaps and your commitment to the importance of process improvement will set you up well for this role. Relevant tertiary qualifications, along with knowledge of the health and social sectors, will be valuable assets in this position. Additionally, your political savviness and ability to manage risks will enable you to navigate the priorities of key stakeholders effectively.
