Project Delivery Specialist - Biosecurity Programmes

The Opportunity
Our Environmental Implementation team at the Otago Regional Council is looking for a Project Delivery Specialist- Biosecurity Programmes to join the team on a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent basis in one of our busy Dunedin, Balclutha, Queenstown or Alexandra offices.
The purpose of the Project Delivery Specialist - Biosecurity Programmes is to provide positive environmental impact through the local implementation and delivery of national biosecurity programmes of work funded by central government and/or specific biosecurity projects or programmes as determined by ORC.
As a Project Delivery Specialist- Biosecurity Programmes, you will be responsible for:
  • Leading the development and implementation of programmes, projects and initiatives that protect Otago's environment through the effective management of pests. The current primary focus of this role is to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the National Wilding Conifer Control Programme in Otago and provide support to Tipu Mātoro, the National Wallaby Programme in Otago.
  • Identifying and implementing changes and improvements to effectiveness and efficiency, including processes and systems
  • Designing and developing projects and associated project plans.
  • Engaging and managing contractors and consultants to ensure efficient and high-quality work is undertaken on behalf of ORC
  • Building meaningful relationships with community groups, NGOs and other internal & external stakeholders to enable buy in and understanding of the National Programmes and/ or other biosecurity programmes.

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A tertiary level Project Management Qualification (or equivalent level of experience).
  • A minimum of seven years' experience in planning and delivering successful programmes and projects with an environmental focus
  • Proven experience in stakeholder and relationship management
  • Strong organisational skills and processes
