This is a fixed-term role for 12 months in the Suncorp legal team. This is a critical role to provide legal advice across a range of legal, regulatory and strategic matters, as well as BAU functions such as claims, underwriting and insurance.

The role will require you to provide advice on a diverse range of issues including:

• Regulatory changes and compliance matters.
• Contractual arrangements and agreements.
• Marketing and other communications, contractual issues including those relating to intermediaries.
• Claims and policy response.
• Dispute resolution and settlement negotiation.
• Delivering training to the business.

This opportunity is a challenging one requiring you to proactively liaise closely with a number of internal stakeholders including senior leaders across the business in NZ.
What we are looking for:

• Law Degree or equivalent and admission as a solicitor with current practising certificate in New Zealand (Mandatory)
• 7+ years PQE in civil litigation in private or in-house practice
• Working knowledge of insurance law in New Zealand
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• An ability to build and maintain and support strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all levels
• Strong understanding of the commercial and strategic context for insurance in New Zealand
